DeLL 2.8 ghz 512ram with ATI Radeon 3D vid card and 5.1
surround sound system.. I hope this beast can handle that
beast of a game

Correct. Has anyone read the new Half-Life 2 exclusives?
Take a look at this month's PCGAMER and Computer Gaming
World - Cover stories of both. It looks and sounds AMAZING.
The engine is capable of rendering individual particles of
dust and hair(made evident by a showcase displaying a shaft
of light in a darkened room)and the AI is beyond phenomenal.
It's no wonder we haven't heard anything from Valve in so
long.

and I thought the AI in Max Payne was outstanding, can't
wait to see this :)! hahaha! I'm so far behind in the gaming
domain!

the beta was a nightmare to get it run on a big athlon xp
1700-->2200 and a radeon 7500 tweaked with 8000 drivers.
but it was pretty neat.
let's hope Karmac or whatever the name of this mutants will
make it run on lesser config

It was an alpha wasn't it? And besides that, it was leaked.
It wasn't optimized and was nowhere near completion.

Will definetly be a great engine, as for a great game, we'll
see...Multiplayer is a no-brainer but previous ID games
single player aspects have blown goats.

I have a shitty computer so you can bet your ass I'll be
playing the Xbox version.
I've seen the Xbox pull of some incredible feats - I didn't
think the little 64MB thing could pull off what I've seen so
far.

the lil 64mb thing?
huh?
it has an equiviland of ageforce 4 (2nd vertex shader
implemented) and a p3 700 or 900, whatever it is, alls it
needs to do is provide shader silouttes and AI.

sound processing is done on the mobo, which is built into
the northbridge (equivilant to the nfroce2)

it will be fast

ya I know....p3 733 mhz. Still - a similar spec PC would be
shit on by Doom3. The Xbox squeezes out a LOT of power out
of a 733 Pentium III and 64MB of RAM. The video card is
pretty sweet, but the bandwidth doesn't allow for high-res
games at a very decent framerate.

I'm talking about HDTVs....even though I don't have one.

Personally, I love the Xbox - I got fed up with PC gaming
bullshit (patches, upgrades, bugs, drivers etc.) over a year
ago.
