i don't DJ, but i just like to say that i don't like DJs who
use CDs or software..
vinyl is the real deal imo

I don't like Dj's of any kind. They're not the real deal.
Live music is where it's at. But none of that electric
guitar stuff. That's faking it. I'm talking acoustic.
Singers using microphones? They're not the real deal either.
There's nothing better than listening to some authentic
acoustic rhythms. DJ's - they just play records.

Vinyl mainly for me, but I take the odd track on CD.

I've not got a "playlist" as I tend not to keep up to date
with new releases.

what do you mean? you like dudes playing digeridoo and
banging on a piece of wood?

real dj's use vinyl

i just spent $400 on mid 90's to old school hip hop so there
is a lot of that in there

been listening to quite a bit of twisted individual lately

played the dukes of hazard theme last night

cookie monster gets played regularly

this white shinsei 7in i have is making me goofy

ummm

dilinja too - hard noize is going strong still

man lots of stuff - whatever I feel like hearing

dj's are the real deal - realer than sitting behind a laptop
while playing wav files and beating your opponent in
solitaire

im so experimental i dont make music

Digeridoo - that's not a real instrument. That's faking it.
Carving wood? What's that all about?

me?

performance?

the flaming lips rocked my ass to pieces

buck 65 is amazing

sage francis is good

stomp was enjoyable

elliott smith rocks the ass whole

funkstorung was amazing (performing "live" on gear not
comp's)

umm

thats about it that i would recommend people seeing - or
going out of their way for - i dont like watching people
touch a computer its boring

i play vinyl, but sometimes ill throw in something on cd if
i really wanna play it...

i always play Autechre : Second Scepe
and i always end my set with Bola : Vespers...

other tracks that pop up often in my sets are

Gescom : Key Nell 4
Vangelis : Memories Of Green
Radiohead : Myxomatosis
Bola : Aguilla
Autechre : Theme Of Sudden Roundabout
Roots Manuva : Movements
Nine Inch Nails : La Mer
Marvin Gaye : Rockin' After Midnight

tend to always play lots of Prefuse 73, Mos Def,
Supercollider, Marvin Gaye

yep, my sets are very eclectic, but i guess thats why i have
a residency :) coz i dont just play what all the others
play

offline euphonicfilter from illadelphia (United States) on 2003-05-01 08:09 [#00679619]

that doesnt sound very eclectic

i have a record of sheep baa-ing to the tune of baah baah
black sheep and a record of CB lingo

thats eclectic -

your list looks like a "warp radio" mix or something

sheep ba-ing? thats not eclectic, thats just shit.
have you ever tried to beatmix Marvin Gaye into Autechre?

im not saying im super wierd and crazzzzy im just saying
that my city is full of shitty house dj's and im one of the
only ones offering something differant

offline euphonicfilter from illadelphia (United States) on 2003-05-01 08:14 [#00679628]

house is bad

no the sheep record rules all - TRUST ME

i watched a noise dj once - that was dumb - you should see
one if you get a chance

i hate marvin gaye
and autechre is easier to beat match than most think

not to diss you just to say hey!

heheh two of my mates are DJs!

it's fuckign awesome one of them is a pretty good dnb dj so
i get to hear wormhole and shit being scratched to when i'm
hella stoned etc etc
and it's cool coz i can get a cd player hooked up to the
mixer and they can scratch to my tunes!

and when i'm drunk they scratch to me beatboxing!

lolz!

I've been known to mix the Fight Club Intro Song with Take
on Me.

It just bugs me when big shot djs like Paul Oakenfold get
all the credit for throwing on records that others have
taken years to produce. The last time I saw Paul he spent
50% of his time off stage hunting for records, getting
water.. ..(god knows what else). He just let the shit play
through and people worship him like a God.

Chemical brothers came on after him, and spent the whole
time fiddling with knobs, mixers, synths, and drum machines
and people could care less.
It's just unfair and ridiculous. Paul can lick my balls.
Bad Boy Bill can lick them too.

Henri & colombiere - Psyche rock
Orbital - bagpipe style
Orbital - impact(the earth is burning)Technohead - I wanna
be a hippie

I bought the Finalscratch (timecode vinyl + soundcard)
gadget 6 months ago which was the best thing I've seen in
the industry for the last 5 years... it really opens a gate
to a whole new level of mixing. I can play the old Aphex
tracks from vinyl (i.e. Analogue Bubblebath 5 which is
REALLY hard to get on a real vinyl :)

Yeah when I'm playing I have to be doing something 90% of
the time, even if it's just tweaking lights etc. it feels
like laziness otherwise...
