everyone looking for great ambient must check this guys
out!!!!!!!
i got their "erm" album today and its one of best albums i
heard this year
its guitar sounds with some occasional noise (it could be a
little alike gsybe only much better and much more chilled)

check tracks maccabea (its a shame its so short because its
one of the most brilliant tunes EVER) and pendulos

btw, they're spanish - dont know any other spanish musicians
i enjoy this much (well there's iglesias...but thats another
story...)

hehe thank you tolst!

theres not much good electronic music here in catalonia or
in spain, but i recommend you "shudo", a guy from barcelona
doing kinda minimalistic/ambient sound with a lot of
melancholy...
hes in quatermass.
he wont deceive you.

yeah, they are really special...

a bit tired of balago right now, tho...

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2003-05-23 10:13 [#00711410]
Points: 50073 Status: Moderator

hmm, i hope i can get something by shudo...i'll search...if
i was able to get balago im sure i'll get this guy somewhere
:)

i think get shudo is easier than get balago, and quatermass
is not a little label...
he has two albums, but i recommend you the second one "ri.t"
cause the first was a kind of compilation of his first songs
(dont have it tho)...
the building in the sleeve of ri.t is near my home... :)

i'll be getting this one!

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2003-05-23 10:23 [#00711424]

btw, is there a good record (cd) shop in barcelona?
perhaps somewhere i could get this ri.t?

offline melack from barcielwave on 2003-05-23 10:31 [#00711433]
Points: 9099 Status: Regular

are you gonna come?

cd drome is the best one... alternative music only... people
to support to...
(i get my ri.t there, and almost everything i buy)

if not... revolver, where they have all kind of music and
you usually find good electronic music there... cheaper than
cddrome...

both in tallers street.

beleta records (sitges st., near tallers): hard to find good
things there, but sometimes ive had a nice suprise and get
something hard to get in another shop...

well, remember my avatar then, and if you see me, call me
loud!

i was thinking about the last balago live i was. the were
only 100 or 200 persons, and only 3 liked balago...
everybody was speaking and then they play that noisy song
(dont know the song, the one that ends or begins ith a
industrial noise that grows and grows) and the play it
louder and louder and louder and louder... when they stop
the track everybody was is silence... nice!

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2003-05-23 10:49 [#00711450]
Points: 50073 Status: Moderator

hehehe, if they cant get the attention in another way...what
is more surprising is that people actually waited for the
song to end :)

kinda...!!!

minimalistic...i absolutely love those two tracks i
mentioned earlier (maccabea, pendulos)
very chilled music!

hey!
shudo is fucking genius!!
listening him last night and... i hadnt realized how good it
was... different style than balago, but no so far as they
seem to be...

balago----> www.foehnrecords.com

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2003-05-24 08:50 [#00712777]
Points: 50073 Status: Moderator

ok, shudo is now on top of my wish list!

i tryed foehnrecords at first (to get balago), but the best
i could get out of their site was a connection to this
german internet record shop (dont remember the details tho)

i think shudo is that kind of music that you need some time
to get inside it, to understand all his progression... the
first time i heard it i thought that i hadnt something
special, that it was only catalan minimalistic shit...
but, wtf, its really imprevisible and emotional when you
really get inside it...
and that is the kind of albums that last.
