Which movie moment where the music just fits 100% do you
love?

Me:

The intro where Dade sit's in the plane in Hackers -
"Orbital - Halcyon & On & On" is playing

In the end of Trainspotting where Rent nicks the money, and
"Underworld - Born Slippy" is playing up fir the end.

And last but not least; In the end of Fight Club, where
"Pixies - Where is my mind" plays while buildings collapse

What's yours?

edward scissor hands: at the very end where snow shoots out
from the window, and spreads across the tree ornaments

combined with the gorgeous instrumentals that moment always
makes me cry

I definately agree w/ the last two.. and I havent seen the
first one.. but the end of trainspotting w/ that same
underworld song is great as well (so is the dark+long and
leftfield scene)

that director is good w/ music.. the beach had a lot of good
moments too

hands down one of the greatest is LAYLA at the end of
goodfellas

there are so many others I cant think of right now..

also clint mansell's theme for the end of requiem for a
dream is really powerful.. as it adds to the absolute
tragedy and depressing spiraling out of control that is the
final minutes of that film.. I'd imagine it worked really
well in the new lord of the rings as it was orchestrally
revamped for that

haha ALSO, the end of the matrix where that rage against the
machine song comes in..

The entire soundtrack of Solaris is wonderful, and matches
perfectly with every other aspect of that film.
Great CD, great movie.

i like the bit in leon where the girl, matilda i think,
comes back and her family have been killed and she goes to
leons door. the music realy adds to the tension of that
scene, then there is relief in the music when leon opens his
door.

im sure theres loads more i could think of, thats sticks in
my mind though..

be clint mansell i think. the ae track in it is kalpol intro
off incunabula, it appears a couple of times when hes going
mad in his room, also very good music/movie moments!

bit of a serious one, but in schindlers list where a german
officer is playing a piece by beethoven (also german) while
soldiers are slaughtering jewish people in the background. a
moment of true genius by spielberg.

one of my favorite movie music scenes is on great
expectations when fin walks into the restaurant and asks
estella (gwyneth paltrow) to dance

The best scene in Goodfellas when the camera pans to Jimmy
at the bar smoking. He's contemplating killing Mori and the
look in his eyes coupled with Cream's 'Sunshine of Your
love' is brilliant.

I don't know why but I always liked the way Venus As A Boy
by Bjork is used in Leon.

DJ Xam: yeah, I like that. The track sounds nicer in that
film and I always think of that scene/film when I hear it.

Jar: I'm with you on that one. God Moving... right? One of
his few good tracks. I like the cover of New Dawn Fades they
use before the restaurant scene too (well, a bit of it;
before he starts wailing).

Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain. In the beginning of
the film... the opening-credits. When you see her as a
little girl and she eats strawberries from her fingers and
stuff.

You hear the most melancholic piece of piano-music i ever
heard. In combination with those images of that innocent
little girl... i get teary-eyed (is that a word?) everytime.

at the end of Heat when pacino had just shot de niro

de niro:told you i'm never going back

pacino:......yeah

then the spacy synth starts to fade in and they grab each
others hands. i love the shot of de niro slowely passing
away as the music fades in and they get that shot of pacino
standing there next to him in the field. that ending totally
blew me away......gave me goose bumps. the music totally
fitted perfectly with the scene. it really shows how some
movie scenes are just best left unsaid to evoke an even
bigger emotion from the audience.

"Yojimbo"... the walking music and Seven Samurai
too............ brilliant use of music and emptiness too.
non music is not used enough... one gets tired of a fucking
soundtrack to everything.

Terminator 2, Fight Club, Heat, Schindler's List, Solaris...
all good musical moments as mentioned.

Other additions:

The Magnolia soundtrack.

Godspeed You Black Emperor! at the beginning of 28 Days
Later.

The Doors at the end of Apocalypse Now.

The Batman theme music.

The deserts of The English Patient accompanied by Marta
Sebestyen singing 'Szerelem, Szerelem'.

The Vangelis music in Blade Runner.

John Cusack in High Fidelity attempting to sell Beta Band
CDs by playing 'Dry The Rain'.

There's also something great about music at the start of
Bond movies. The Bond theme up front, then some big action
set piece and then the song. Doesn't even matter if the song
is crap or not, it's just an expected part of the Bond
experience.

ok, when Halcyon plays at the end of Mortal Kombat... also,
as you said, where is my mind at the end of fight club...
but for me, the ultimate is the music which plays at the end
of the shashank redemption... oh my, the scene where they
meet on the beach gets me every time!
