Funny, but surripere really left the strongest impression on
me too. But really, the whole album is just excellent and
it's all about little details that make surripere stand out
by the inches...

goddamn this album is good.. it really is nothing like
Confield despite [m]any perfunctory connections made to the
contrary.

my favorite three:

1. IV VVIV VV VIII
2. Tapr
3. Surripere

see, mine WAS surripere, but then i began to like some other
ones just as much and possibly more.
so right now, i'd have to balance between surripere (theft),
v-proc (uprock), reniform puls (kidney bean).

the selection will likely change in a week or so....

i would've sworn more peeps would've been all over 6ie.cr

it just seems like the most instantly gratifying.

v-proc was probably the most instantly gratifying for me.
but I'd have to say surripere is my favourite, only after
one listen though.

what's with the alternate track titles? are those spread by
autechre or just made up?

offline theo himself from +- on 2003-04-11 10:21 [#00644916]

6ie and vproc were the first ones I had heard,, (aside from
IV VVIV VV VIII) through slsk leaks and the warp advanced
listening opportunity promo. I liked them instantly.. and
was intrigued instantly by IV.. however, it is that those
two are so immediately gratifying that sortof turned me off
to them after awhile. not really turned off, but less
interested in as it soon became time to explore the other
tracks then foreign to me. I'm not used to much autechre
(late 90's-03) being that accessable and that might have
something to do with it.. it also is hard to argue that
those two hip-hop pastiche-based tracks are probably the
weakest out of the ten in that they rely so exclusively on
the rhythm and ignore most other elements (or even the
inclusion of other elements present in other tracks) that
the sound eventually grows tiresome/grating .. and
specifically in the case of ''v-proc'' the strength of the
track, the opening "riff" let's say, is never employed under
the subsequent rhythms later that surface. .. having the
drums that come in about a minute too late earlier in the
song, played over the opening part would have made the song
a bit more actualized I think. I absolutely love the end of
''6ie.cr'' by the way,, it's just that you have to get
through a few minutes of that same break over and over in
different, minimally-altered iterations .. all the while
never letting up on the 'grating factor'

I REALLY love Xylin Room....I can't belive it hasn't been
mentioned more. It is so organic and evolving and
robotic...

There's not really a bad track there, but Theme Of Sudden
Roundabout sounds waaay to Cfern-ey for me (I mean, it's
nice, but a bit same-old, same-old) and some of the tracks
mutate too much.

Xylin Room is my least favorite, bores the hell out of me...
V-Proc is incredible though, the intro just knocks my socks
off.

Nothing on it is as good as Eidetic Casein from Confield,
though.

How can it bore you man! :D

It keeps evolving and shit.

Though I agree that V-Proc rocks cock!
