56 year old HELP !

offline Sepix from Major City (Austria) on 2003-04-07 06:52 [#00636489]

ok, tomorrow i gotta work outside my office. my 56 year old
departement chief will bring me there, i`ll fix some pc`s
and then he brings me back. estimated driving time hin and
back ~3 hours.

my whole working place is decorrated with pics from afx and
co. last time he saw me using traktor on a laptop and mixing
a bit. today he asked me to bring a cd, wich we can listen
while driving.

i`m absolute in fear, of course i wanna show him some good
music but if i choose something to weird maybe he`ll throw
me out of the car (or just makes me lose my job ;)

so the question is wich cd should i bring tomorrow ?
i thought of drukQs because of the piano pieces (this guy
listens classic music normally) but when i think of the
drill pieces uhhh

Maybe autechre's earlier work?
I think of incunabula and amber as albums that are quite
acceptable for most ears?

Take some Boards of Canada - that usually appeals more to
the easy listening generation, as evidenced by reports of MB
user's parents listening to it and enjoying it

Yeah I'd say boards of canada too.
GeoGaddi or MHTRTC

Yeah, i'd go with Boards of Canada.

Why would listening to "weird" music lose you your job...?

offline marlowe from Antarctica on 2003-04-07 06:57 [#00636497]

I'd be more inclined to go for their Eps: Hi-Scores and A
Beautiful Place...?

yeah, make a cd with some boards, four-tet, more melodic
type aphex (eg: fingerbib or something)...just a thought.
:)

Take some Selected Ambient Works 2. Should be no complaints.

"SAWI" would be a safe bet. Or maybe something by the Gentle
People?!?

What do you know about his musical taste anyway? Or tastes
in general?

SAW would be a good choice. The early ae cd's too,
especially amber.

offline Sepix from Major City (Austria) on 2003-04-07 07:08 [#00636530]

hmm very good ideas

fernz: he likes me and he know`s im obsessed with music.
he`s also curios what kind of music i listen to. but i won`t
take the risk of overstretching this - think of: "you gotta
be stoned to like that music" or similar ...

Old Autechre would be an idea but is a bit too monotonous.
Boc and Saw are great but to slow ...

I need something in between,
maby plaid will do it ... double figure ... hmm ..
