You know if you turn up the beginning very loud, you can
hear the song before it even starts.

Autechre - Pen Expers

I love it! , its like a long mutating version of the beat in
Run Dmc's "Sucka Mc"
Makes me wanna break dance and meditate at the same time
haha!

The beat in Photeks "Smoke Rings" is flawless and the beats
in "Ni Ten Ichi Ryo" still stands out as the coolest DNB
beats ever!

The beat in Cascade pt1 by Future Sound of London is nice,
with the vintage snare drums and all bouncy echoes. There's
a moment where the beat is almost solo. It's awesome.

..and I have the sample cd it came from. It's actually a
double cd by Swedish E-lab called 'X-static goldmine 1'.
Some other loops are also on 'Lifeforms' from the same
sample cd.

offline theo himself from +- on 2003-04-06 08:42 [#00634769]

Rza's flying birds yes.. but also samurai theme

rza's verbal intercourse, glaciers of ice, iron maiden,
WILDFLOWER, duel of the iron mic, I could go on

true master who has the most amazing, fragmented style - 'if
you dont know,' 'heaterz' 'fish' the unreleased version of
'party crasher' 'slang editorial'

4th disciple 'nasty immigrants' 'soldiers of darkness'
'universial soldiers' 'full moon' 'under siege' 'swinging
swords' 'fifth disciple'

that unknown/unreleased 'taking drastic measures' track by
drastic measures and cappadonna and it's remix are two of
the most intoxicating/hypnotic beats ever made

a lot of ayatollah
there's a pretty long dj premier list as well

ever andi used it in one of my best songs ive made

Otherwise it would be:

Laughable Butane Bob
Poppy Seed (Boards of Canada Remix)
Carpet Muncher by Mu-Ziq

There are others but i cant think of any more

Interesting thread.

I like lots of beats in lots of threads, but the one i'd
consider to be the coolest beat would have to be...

Tricky - brand new you're retro

offline theo himself from +- on 2003-04-06 09:20 [#00634850]
Points: 3348 Status: Regular

seriously, you should check "careful (click, click)" by
wu-tang. it's lyrically one of their weakest I'd say (part
of their tail-end effort "The W") but the beat is so cool..
a haunting french horn, clanking chains, sonar blips and
kung fu movie samples..plus the hook is like a slum
horror-lullaby mantra

"careful (click, click)" by wu-tang."

did they release that one as a single? Your remark about the
"haunting french horn" reminded me of one of their singles.
I really liked it... but it came from the same album as that
other crappy single (don't remember the title... but with
some sort of flintstones-parody as a video). So i never got
interested enough to really check it out.
