i don't have anything against opening a thread about every
news, but frankly, not many people were replying at the
end...still, no reason to ban him for that.

(and good luck with your school work, btw)

=/

i'm sad to see FLEA and RED go, but if something is
irritating you that much......like this MB......then i think
you're decision is a good one in the long run. maybe you'll
return when things have cooled off, if not i wish you BOTH
well.

i tried to stay away from anything that looked remotely like
a war topic because if i wanna see something about it, or
read something about it......i can turn on my TV or read the
paper, or some other on line source. the WAR is too much
with us, and all the protests in the world NOW can't change
the fact that WE (the US and a few other countries) are in
it. bashing the people who's job it is to keep our asses
safe is just NOT right IMO. i'm sure they don't wanna be
there either, but they took an oath and have to follow it
now.......despite their personal feelings.

i myself bid adieu today to an ex-bf who is an apache
helicopter pilot......and while i don't support the war, i
certainly support him and hope he comes home safe and SOON.

the WAR is in everything these days, people watch it like
it's entertainment, it's NOT. while reading the MB...i would
rather have OTHER things to talk about than the war......and
would rather NOT have reminders about the WAR all ze time.
but if others want it, i say go for it. no one made me click
on ANY of them cos it's pointless to argue ad nauseum about
something NONE of us (as far as i know) has ever been
actively involved in, and war just DIVIDES people, as it has
on this MB. Bah!!!!

adieu dear flea & red.....more war 'casualties' in a sense

This is a sad day for xltronic :-/
Flea seemed like one of the nicest and most intelligent (and
talented) people on here. And i for one, will miss his posts
alot.
Including the war-posts, i found them all interesting and
important. You cannot compare a war to starwars or
football... it isn't just some pleasant discussion... this
is something that is really happening. Just look at the
frontpage now, you will see there are NO threads about the
war, they have all died.

And if you look at ceri's posts, i hardly think it was like
"A friend kindly asks you to take it easy on the war topic
creation". It went more like:

"Just so people can't claim I didn't tell them... Any new
topics on war/anti-war will be closed. This a music MB at
the end of the day, not a political one.

By all means keep the existing threads, but don't create any
new ones.

...

If you don't like it- go elsewhere.
"

Sad indeed. I know it was only a temporary ban, and 7 days
doesn't seem like much. But if you don't agree with the
reason for which you're being banned, i can imagine you'd
find it very insulting. It isn't a fair discussion
when one of the two people discussing has the power to shut
the other up for seven days. How are you supposed to come
back after the ban is over? Pretend like nothing happened?
That just doesn't seem right, and it certainly doesn't seem
like flea.

yes, it goes to show how evil a war really is. It goes
much further than just the warzone in iraq.

I'm sad to see one of my fave members and someone who
brought intelligence, good humour and warmth to this MB
forced out by, IMO, a lame policy.

How about this. Someone emailed me in response to Lacoeur's
post:

"I was gonna respond to that LaCoeur post but she's sweet
and I didn't want
to be harsh. Plus you'll never get through to people like
that. Her view of
the world is so skewed. Fair enough if you don't want to do
anything about
the world but that whole ostrich attitude stinks to high
Heaven.

There's that attitude of non-criticism of the troops, or
'Our Boys' as they
keep being referred to as, over here also. Even people
critical of the war
are now swinging behind them. I know most are working class
kids who sign up
because its either that or poverty and drudgery, but at the
end of the day
they are trained killers. My sympathy lies with the Iraqis
who take their
fire, not them. They made their choice, the Iraqis haven't."

So he's gone. And Red too. I'm absolutely fucking disgusted.
I think Titsworth summed it all up best. I didn't go into
most of the war topics but fuck they didn't BOTHER me, of
course people are gonna talk about it. Just like a new
thread for 26 Mixes has popped up every 2 hours or so. If
this escalates then all the good members will be gone and
it'll just be bill hicks left jabbering insanely to himself

Flea is taking this way too seriously. It's not the first
time he decides to leave due to messageboard circumstances.

I def. support my moderators decisions during the last week
- all of them. Ceri was handling the situation perfect. He
asked Flea and other members politely, to stop creating more
war-topics, several times before he decided to ban them. It
was out of control.

I also agree with everything Ophecks said in this topic.

2. People are interested in other's opinions, this is a

At one point there were at least 5 26 Mixes for Cash topics
on the board at one time andn o one seemed to mind.

We have got more "What does the Aphex logo mean" or "Who's
the other member of Aphex Twins" than we ever did war
threads.

I did look in on the Anti War threads from time to time but
i didn't reply since i dismiss the 'war'. But i feel that
both sides (Moderators and Members) are taking this too
seriously.

Time will pass...wounds will heal...Xltronic will come :)

"Artists, be they painters, actors, writers or musicians,
have a responsibility to reflect and interpret and interpret
the world around them. Our current administration's foreign
policy strikes me as being reckless, inhumane, and
hopelessly out of step with the so-called "values" it claims
to defend. We, the world's only superpower, have immense
capacity to easy human suffering throughout the world, yet
we instead choose to inflict it upon those we deem a threat
to our agenda of empire. As an American, my government's
actions give me cause for great concern. I'm proud to
support Zack de la Rocha in giving a musical voice to that
concern." - DJ Shadow
