well well, so he got banned for that? amazing... all this
drama over something that shouldnt have even been a fucking
issue in the first place. cool.

Read my post earlier in this topic about WHY Ceri banned
him.

Trust me... Flea got more than enough warning and it was not
unfair at all. Ceri was being easy on him.

ive never seen ophecks act unfairly moderating this board,
and i think we all know he wasn't acting with some secret
political motive in mind lol
in fact hes one of the least political members of this
board

if flea was starting as many threads as he did about any
other heated topic when ONE thread, or maybe a couple was
all he really needed, how do you think the moderators would
have dealt with that?
especially if he was asked before to keep it in the same
thread?

someone said shame on us for treating him the way we
supposedly did... if anyone is to be ashamed its flea for
being so childish and dramatic about it

you guys sensationalize stuff that goes on here so much when
yoru not happy about it

now we're all "drones"?
all your time here was "wasted"??

lol phobiazero is trying to control our minds by wanting to
keep the threads tidy??

LOL suddenly most of the people here aren't creative or
artistic anymore just cus some of them disagree w/ you on
one issue??? what a pathetic attempt at emotional
manipulation
oooooh im so hurt, i want to be creative and artistic, i
wish i had an independant mind like flea, who martyed his
membership for freedom of speech!
but alas, i am a mere drone! a mind-slave of the
moderators!
with the help of the brainwashing media of course...

wtf your topics were as biased and sensationalist as the
worst CNN has to dish out
british pilots are "incopetant" because of a few accidents
within hundreds of missions a day?
oh, its just the military lying: saddam shot them down in
the middle of the coalition fleet in the persian gulf

if your all for independant thought are you so
sensationalist, exagerating and dramatic?

theres nothign wrong with being opposed to the war but cant
you talk about it without resorting to bullshit tactics?
we shouldn't have to market our views on things

if your opinion is rational you shouldn't have to market
it!

not that this was about views in teh first place

i just read backposts... i see his banning as unecessary and
pointless. this place should be about freedom of speach
right? i think theres a lot more "pointless" topics that
need to be addressed before you start getting rid of LONG
TIME members who have done a lot for the "community"

lol yeah didn't mean to post that a second time :)

teapot: he chose to leave!
apparently doing what a moderator politely asks and keeping
all the additions to a topic in the same thread is too much
of an infringement on his freedom

damn my pathetic drone-mind for not being able to comprehend
what true freedom is...

His ban lasted a whopping 7 days... one week. 1/4 of a
month. 1/52nd of a year. Hardly ''getting rid'' of a
longtime member.

And we do what we can about ''pointless'' topics, but
there's only so much we can do. Totally pointless topics are
usually shot down on the spot. Less whining and prima donna
showboating, more good convo ideas, that's what we need. No
more ''the board sucks, I'm leaving'' topics, that doesn't
help. Go then, if you're not willing to help.

And they always come back... and they always keep reading.

What's so bad about one or two BIG long running war topics?
Seriously, why can't he settle for that? It would be nice to
have all those links in one place. He can talk about war all
he wants in there, just like the World Cup and Star Wars
topics.

yes ceri was being polite, and i know he didnt mean any
harm, but why the issue... ITS A THREAD!... and for flea to
get driven to the point where he leaves is just... well its
a shame for the board.

"WAR" isnt something you can cram into 1 or 2 topics... its
not the world cup and its certainly not star wars.

A shame for HIM more than the board. A friend kindly asks
you to take it easy on the war topic creation and you make
two more just and dare him to ban you... pfft. Lame.

he wasnt daring to get banned he was doing exactly what you
wanted him to do... he was compressing the entire war down
into 2 topics.

He wasn't starting any unique conversations or anything...
just giving links to something that don't merit a whole new
one, but would be a great addition to an existing one.

''US drops bomb on reporter''

''US fucks up''

''US kills Iraqi holding up White Flag''

''US detonates nuke accidentally in a nursery''

etc

There was a pattern.

I didn't read everything that happened... it wasn't my
''shift'', so to speak, and I was busy. I know I read
something about ''go ahead and ban me, Ceri'', but like I
said, I wasn't the mod on duty there.

Why doesn't he come back and do that then? Compress it?
Swallow his pride?

look all im saying is its wrong that a member would get
banned over what happened... its obvious that flea has a lot
of pride, and a temp ban would lead to this, him leaving the
board. his topic titles were clear, you knew beforehand what
you were clicking, and there is definately a lot that can be
said about each of those individual topics.
i just think in this case the moderator got a little to
defensive about the little things. you'd ban a friend to
please phobiazero? most of the time he only posts so that he
can get us to part with cash.

damn right shame on y'all. flea should never have been told
to keep all his links to one topic. are we expected to keep
all MUSIC links in one thread? no. in fact, we even tolerate
it when someone posts a link we've seen before. every topic
flea made was about something DIFFERENT related to the war.
eg: an interesting article debating the literal legality of
the war, or an article about oil companies, etc. if to you
it's the "same" article cos it criticizes bush then you just
didn't understand it because it went over your head (whether
that makes you mentally inferior to flea and people who
engage in interesting political discussions, or if you just
purposely tuned yourself out, is something only you would
know). it was wrong to tell flea to limit himself to one
topic when every other type of discussion can diversify
itself (eg: a thread for every autechre track on draft 7.30
instead of keeping it all in one topic for just the album).

i wish flea didn't leave but i can't blame him. the way some
of you treated and talked about him disgusts me.

"serious political discussion" LOL!

UK polits are incompetent... wow that hyperbole is far to
sophistcated for my feeble drone brain to grasp

and many of the topics were about very specific incidents,
not different aspects or sub-topics of the war

if i created a new thread for every individual model of
headphones within a couple of days do you think i'd be asked
to keep it in the same thread?

almost seems like the pro-war-people felt personally
attacked by the war-topics. which would be sad.

ditto - but i don't think its entirely fair to lay
all the blame on those people. don't get me wrong, i
think flea is a great guy - but it was his decision
to leave. i respect that.

ah .. can't remember how i wanted to put that. *lights

Haha, I don't agree with many things you say, but that was
funny. ;-)

And of course topics about every Draft 7.30 track is going
to stay... say what you want about this board being about
''everything'', but realistically, it's centered around
IDM... theoretically of course... sometimes it can be hard
to tell. A lot of us don't give a shit about the war (I
don't), but we all (except for Jedi Chris) are IDM fans. Not
a good analogy.

should have been an anti-blame post.

just out of curiousity thought. (i haven't read all of the
back-log). was it the number of posts, or the subject matter
that led to his temp. ban?

whilst it may now seem like a matter of just "too many posts
etc." - it certainly seemed like war talk in general was not
really tolerated? it was urged to be swept under the carpet
... ?

anyway. i think i'll put on a raincoat.

Nothing to do with subject matter, you can say anything you
want about the war here. But Ceri and others were annoyed at
a topic about a ''US is doing stupid things'' every time
they... did a stupid thing.

Which was/is OFTEN.

"if i created a new thread for every individual model of

yes because that is incredibly boring to everyone. plenty of
