So when do people think the next album will be put
out?

I know we've just had 26 Mixes for Cash but that doesn't
count as a proper album. I reckon this time next year we'll
see a new album from the man.

The next question is who will release it?

Rephlex? Warp? MEN Records?

In a thread Joyrex stated that there would be more Aphex
warp releases......
This is good news but then what about the fact that he
started Rephlex albums as a means to release his music? What
is the story behind the one (To my knowledge) MEN records
release?

What will the album sound like?

The vaunted "More advanced Drukqs like piano pieces"
seems to be most likely.
Personally I'm hoping for something that sounds like it came
from the Windowlicker frame of mind. I've not heard anything
similar since. It's deserving of it's own genre I think. The
gentle sounds of the Piano pieces... does this reflect a
calmer Richard D James?

Under what Alias will it be released?

Aphex, AFX, Caustic Window, Polygon Window.... etc.?

What's most likely.

Personally i'd love to hear a full Caustic Window album as
that's my favourite stuff that I've heard by him. But any
release will always be a good thing in my books.

Well I hope this thread makes a nice change from he current
crop.

Who gives a fuck, the Plaid dvd is out this year!

:)

Seriously, I'd like to think we'd see a full length release
this year, but I dunno.... If the next album he releases
just consists of piano pieces then I'll make it my mission
in life to hang his head on my wall

well it gonna be by richard james. probably.
thats about as certain as i can be.
i mean i could say something like 'it will probly be all
gloopy and liquified like spiky jelly' but that would be
WRONG wouldnt it?

Morton: That would be nice and is certianly possible

Bob: I thought I'd read that but I wasn't sure.

Jar: Agreed unless they have some nice gabber beats on
them!

Tone: That was him lying for publicity.

George: That's the spirit lad.

Phresch: Your avatar freaks me! I'm hoping for something
like that too but the windowlicker thing really floats my
boat.

His next release will be a Goa Trance album on Men records.

Men records seemed to disguise 808 and AFX quite well from
Rephlex. Imagine if that 808 mix came out in a nice box with
AFX splattered over the cover, that could have been very
popular. I think that untitled squarepusher vinyl got pretty
high in the charts even tho it was pretty well disguised. I
dunno tho.

I want fresh tracks by him too but y'know I'll just go with
whatever he does. I'm sure he knows whats best.

i hope it will get more like the come to daddy ep, which is
brilliant, i miss some new 'windowlicker', 'come to daddy',
'flim', 'donkey rhubarb'.. drukqs has it all, it's really a
mix of what he has been doing in the past, its like a
resumé of everything he has done. the only thing bad thing
he could make was to do more in the piano, its really boring
=(

Yep that's the way it seems to go. I really want him to
release that stuff he reckons is too dangerous. That sounds
great!

His next release will be a Goa Trance album on Men
records

Now wouldn't that be nice?

In an interview RDJ said that CTD wasn't challenging enough
to make. He could produce lots of material in that vein with
very little effort, he just doesn't want to.

why wouldn't you count 26 mixes as an album?

offline Refund from Melbourne (Australia) on 2003-03-26 09:17 [#00617531]

26 mixes seems more like a singles maxi to me, an album is
usually a set peice of work, this was more just placed
together

I don't consider 51/13 singles to be an album either

how well does it flow?,... all those mixes of all those
different artist from all those different times, I'd find it
hard to see how it could blend together well

aphex can do anything with music. i think your
underestimating him. i think it'll be similar to his live
stuff.

this may sound silly, but its curently my favourite rdj
album-the first cd is just so wonderfuly put
together-perfect combo

even the songs that sound somehow more simple are brilliant,
especially because he's using sounds that no one else is
using
cd2 is awesome as well, but i slightly prefer the first one

his albums are more like a painting he did of himselves,
this is more like a dodgy mosiac thrown together by a
company trying to promote RDJ's image for money, as this was
there last attempt to gain money from an artist that is
leaving them (i.e. releasing everything before they lose the
right to do so)

what the hell??? don't start sayin all that "its for the
industry" shit. i fucking hate that. if that were true he
would have put it together sooner

less...

as far as i know all those remixes were for diff labels
which probably means warp had to pay to license/release
them. it wouldnt matter if richard were signed or not.
i'm guessing though.

these tracks were made independantly and never designed to
fit together, that's all I am saying,

I consider it a collection of his stuff so yes it is an
album but I was talking about an album in the sense of his
own original stuff.
