I found out about Aphex Twin when I watched the skate video CKY2K. "Come to Daddy" is in it and the minute I heard it I knew I wanted to learn more about Aphex Twin.
I read about Squarepusher in an interview with Thom Yorke of Radiohead a while ago. They asked Thom what he'd been listening to lately and he said "I really love 'Go! Plastic" by Squarepusher, it makes my head spin." So I bought "Go! Plastic" and it did indeed make my head spin.
good times

not sure when I first heard of Aphex Twin. I remember I was amazed by "come to daddy" after seeing the wonderful video.
Then I REALLY LOVED the windowlickervideo. After that I picked up some albums.
I also remember hearing Tuva Novotny (swedish actress) said she like aphex twin cause she like when unexpected things happened in the music.
I heard that before I started listening to aphex, and I guess that made me want to find out more...

i was walking down the street, and richard came up to me and gave me some of his early demos, i laughed in his face, he invited me over to his bank vault, i decided he was an ok chap
we began to eat oreos and popcorn, he thought that i was one of the koolest people he had ever met, he asked me if i wanted to start a crazy record label called rephelx records
i told him id think about it, i called him up the next day and decided that would be ok, as long as in the future sometime he would make a song called "windowlicker" and make some kickass afx umbrellas, he agreed
he later then started to call me daily and bug me, i was way to busy with www.aphextwin.nu so we parted ways for a while
but dont worry, we still hang out everyweekend
i love you richard d. james

how I came in touch with squarepusher's music:
I told Vinyljunk to listen to some of my tracks, and when he gave me feedback on them he said my music sounded like squarepusher.
I hadn't heard squarepusher at that time, so I figured I'd better check it out...
and so I did...

in seventh grade my i met this crazy japanese kid named nick suda who talked about crazy music called like aphex twin and squarepusher. he was always ranting and raving about "IDM" music so i got on kazaa and downloaded the first aphex track i could find which was vordhosbn. that song completly changed my perspective of music. i remeber vividly listening to that track and thinking it was the coolest song ever and that someday i was gonna make a track as good or better than that. that's basicly when my whole electronic music craze started.

a friend let me borrow a copy of icbyd in 1995... i listened to it at night, in the dark, in my renovated basement bedroom. i liked it alot, and made a tape copy of it. some time later, i had read in a magazine a review of rdj album. they gave it much praise, saying it was his best work. i ran right out a bought it. it is still my favorite of all his albums (followed closely by drukqs).
squarepusher is a different story. i only started liking his stuff this past year. drukqs kinda helped open that door for me. now i think he's one of the best "idm" artists out there.
