I think people who reach 10.000 points should automaticly
get to be Moderator.

Anyone agree?

in about a week :)

No, and certainly not if that person got his points by
spamming the board

No, because then you'd get (some)people frantically posting
just to become a moderator!

Also, having been around for ages doesn't neccesarily make
you responsible. Skyfarmer claims to of been around (since
V3?), but look what happened to him...

year

i wouldn't be good for my health if i became a webmaster ;)

ok...

what about, if you have 10.000 points, and stays on 10.000
for a whole weak, and then get's a mail if you can be a mod
or not after careful consideration from the Xltronic-crew.

What's the obsession with being a Mod? You get a few extra
buttons to press, that's it. I come here to chat not to keep
tabs on people. Having said that I wouldn't mind being a mod
purely for that fact that I could ban Phob for April Fools
day :D

It's really not up to us who becomes mods and who doesn't.
What I'd like to see one day is a person voted for by the
community, so we could have a shortlist drawn up and then it
could be the weekly poll. But I'll say it again, DO WE NEED
ANOTHER ONE RIGHT NOW?

Yes, contary to popular believe, being a mod isn't all ban
buttons and topic closing, there's a lot of responsibilty as
well as "behind the scenes" work.
You risk alienating friends by closijng their topic as well
as having to do "social work" with temp banned members.

You also need to exercise a reasonable amount of self
control to resist the temptation to ban someone just because
you don't like them etc.

That'd be cool. But I think that there's enough as you say.
There's always a Mod present when I logon and that's random
times throughout the day.

i would hate to be a mod, although i think i would be
fair... i don't think i could do it for very long. ceri and
ophecks and the rest do wonderful jobs. if anyone else here
gets elevated to mod sttus, im sure they would deserve it.

True but I still don't get certain nameless parties
obsession with being a Mod. It's not like you'll get laid
because of it. Well I hope not or else I'm writing an
application to Phob now!

do the swedish put decimal points to denote thousands
(10.000)? that's quite interesting. It's good to see the
differences in other cultures. It broadens my horizons.
Decimal points. Whatever next? you live and learn

Thanks Nac,

Like I said on that thread, I wasn't angry at you, I don't
think you did it to be disruptive/anti-social. Just a lapse
of judgement, thats all.

Giginger: If only you knew mate, if only you knew... ;)

The decimal points is funny. Fortunately I knew already, but
I imagine some people read it as 10 at first glance...

Too late mate, I already rang her, I only read the first
line before picking up the phone ;)

I've yet to try picking up girls in my local using the line,
"Hey, I'm a moderator at Xltronic.com, you wanna get
jiggy?"...
