hm, i don't know what to say. i just got my first vinyl
deliverd, picked astrobotnia part 3 for the first one.
listening to it know. i'm stunned. this is so much cooler
than a cd. but for near 20 bucks i paid for it a bit heavy.
what do you prefer... cd or vinyl ?

cd, unless the vinyl is somehow significantly different...
it has it's novelty, but peeps like steve albini who wont
accept that cd is superior are full of it.

since i don't have any turntables i'd say CD

vinyl... But I own way more Cds than vinyl.
cds are easier to rip to.
But I prefer vinyl.

i don't know. the music is not really better... but the
small cracks and splitts seem so nice and soft... perfect
for astrobotnia

ebay has a lot of vinyls that are really cheap. i like
records but it gets annoying when it starts skipping.

If you have a really high end (£6000+) stereo you'll
find audiophile pressings of tracks with real instruments in
them it is unarguably better. For everything else it's quite
subjective...

I like CDs for MP3 ripping and sampling.
I like vinyl for hi-fi, DJing and scratch sampling.

Overall I like vinyl better.

I don't DJ, I don't even own a pick-up (except for my
parents' in the attic), I don't feel the need to buy vinyls
for their collector's value, I prefer high quality sound and
I do not own a high end stereo, I like to rip my CDs so that
I can play them on my PC and last but not least: I prefer
the medium that is easier to obtain in stores....

....seems the choice is obvious for me :)

I didn't realise they released part 3 (or 1 for that matter)
on vinyl. Only part 2.

that's a point. i have some old vinyls with mozart, chopin
and etc., classical music. they sound really awesome on
vinyl. much better than on cd. but now i wanted to try out a
fully electronic album on vinyl, and there isn't really much
difference between it and the cd version. maybe pannning is
slittly better.

Vinyl
well like most people said here I have more CD's (not enough
though...) I love vinyl, nothings better than going to a
record store and picking up a new vinyl
it almost has a magical feeling to it

or perhaps Im just an idiot???

I have moonlight sonata on vinyl and I like it much better
on vinyl than CD for some odd reason, just the warmth of it
I guess

so, for the first moment i can say, that the vinyl version
of astrobotnia is much better. i just love it how it's
turning round... and you can't put a rubber duck on a cd and
look how it spins !

but one thing makes me angry: changing the sides... standing
up while listening to music destroys the atmosfere

My first vinyl was Paul van Dyk - "For an angel". An
otherwise all-cd musicstore had it, so I picked it up.
I like it, great summertrack.

Oh yeah, CDs are good for parties and ambient music where
changing the record all the time can break the mood (as
Sadist pointed out).

The portability of CDs is a boon too. It's not till you've
lugged a box of 60 records a few miles that you really
appreciate just how light CDs are.

I listened to my new aphex vinyl round my mates on his decks
at the weekend. they sounded much better, not so noticable
on the electronic type stuff but on pancake lizard the
strings seemed much clearer and come to daddy sounds a lot
meatier.

i listened now about 5 times to the whole album. i love it !

one thing is. i wouldn't buy it on cd. i mean, on cd i can
get the mp3's. buying vinyls is my way to donate some money
for my music makers :)

refering to the cost of your vinyl, i bought part 03 on cd,
it was an import and cost about $18.00 comparded to part 01
which was about $14.00

the astrobotnia vinyl is expensive like hell. analogue
bubblebath (2 vinyls) cost the same. on vinyl for so much is
a bit too heavy
