overrated. look at all the boringass topics about him on
this board. i just wonder who the next darling is for this
board (dj scud would be a good followup to VS i think).

Just like when Geogaddi came out, this place turned into a
virtual Boards of Canada site. Ass-kissing goes in cycles.

Snares is good, nothing special... probably be better if he
didn't release a dozen albums a year, save his best tracks
for a really great album. VS oversaturation for me right
now... Find Candace or whatever is out and about and I
haven't even gotten into his last... THREE fucking albums
yet.

that enduser guy sounds exactly like snares but more
coherent and with groovy dancehall vocals. He could go
places and do things. And pitchfork likes him which is a big
up.

Quite frankly I'm getting sick of machines, and live shows
that consist of a guy tapping on a laptop and headbanging. I
love electronic sounds but I'm getting more interested in
things beng played in real time by humans, like jazz and
melodic/death/progressive metal.

There are these amazing realtime percussion devices called
drums; perhaps you've heard of them?

Bring back post-rock and make it growtherize its balls! It
doesn't have to be effete noodling. It could be vital and
throbbing and as experimental as anything electronic.

That piece of shit up Snares, I never liked him, I never
trusted him. For all I know he had me set up and had my
friend Angel Fernandez killed. But that's history. I'm here,
with Find Candace, and I like it alot. It is the best
snares I have ever heard.

I don't know, I love VS - but I'm on a VS holiday right now

wants the Snares mania with an actual bass and drums
involved. Nuts.

this isn't a thread praising venetian snares.. I hope this
doesnt come as a surprise to you

I was just thinking this.. it might be a bit extreme.. but
Winter in the belly of a snake almost turned me off to the
entire genre for a minute.. it's that bad.. it's that
gratuitous .. and it's so widely praised by people who are
making this music now .. that I fear he'll influence many
impressionable fan/artists (notice how the fan comes first)
to create similar bullshit .. driving the entire genre into
the ground

Most Snares is just noise. I think it is because his hair
falls in front of his eyes and prevents him from seeing what
he is doing.

But lets all here it for Snares. Three cheers for the less
talented Squarepusher clone, hip hip?

Even though I'm on a Snares vacation he's still top 5 in my

What does ig'nant mean? I have listened to all of snares
albums, spent my hard earned cash on them I did, and what
did I get? It is all just sped up trying to be angry noise.
Nothing new, Panacea was doing it before Snares just he
didn't use a hyperactive amen.

As far as Squarepusher goes I liked him up until I heard Go
Plastic. He seems to have lost the plot a little but I am
sure he will be back.

No I bought 2 of his albums and I stole the rest from the
store. I dunno his music just does nothing for me. I dont
listen to music any more because I have gone off it
altogether, nothing hits the spot any more. I suppose it
has more to do with my taste than anything.

But looking at some of your posts I can see how the IDM
scene has got a reputation for being elitest bullshit.

WOW. I'm listening to squarepusher's "music is one rotted
note" for the first time (that's right, settle down) and,
YOU'VE GOT TO be fucking KIDDING ME!!! how dare anyone say
venetian snares is in any way better than squarepusher..
THIS is a good-.... great album .. done by a talented (aaron
funk doesnt know what that means) MUSICIAN (see previous
parenthetic aside) .. I'm only angry at vsnares because I'm
angry w/ myself for buying it w/o knowing what I was getting
myself into.. but yeah.. you really cannot compare
squarepusher and what's his name.. that's almost insulting
to tom jenkinson's work/dedication (I've heard he's quite
the workaholic.. as is vsnares.. their being prolific is
about the only interface btw the two) .. I'll forgive his
embarrassing "manifesto" for this album.. 9/10 .

if u like "music is one rotted note" check the clifford
gilberto rhythm combination's "I was young and I needed the
money".. it's a perfect album.. jazzier than "..rotted note"
and more electronic.. it's on ninja tune so u can trust it..
who's w/ me on this

disturbing. Although, i recently got from WARP both "Doll

anyway, this thread isn't about VS' music so much as his
burdensome presence on this board... some of you really need

travis_ i do agree about Vsnares presence in here. i hadn`t
been here in a while, and now it is filled with venetian
snares posts, too much i`d say.
As far as "improving your taste people", well, too each
their own i say dood, i mean, you`re into a lot of diverse
stuff too, and noone seems to be telling YOU to improve your
taste in music...in fact, you seem to "be respected" in here
because of it....so i don`t see why you shouldn`t respect
others for liking vsnares music.....we all might have our
personal reasons. peepz should take it easy with the
posting though...or go to a vsnares community for that
matter

This hype must have passed me by - when I first heard Find
Candace, I did a search for it and didn't find that many
threads about it - it's a new release, it's going to be
discussed, just like 26 remixes is being talked about, and
draft 7 et al.

To my mind, vSnares is a developing artist - I've heard some
of his earlier stuff, and I can see a progression, which is
one of the reasons I find him so interesting as an artist.
If he keeps on developing, he's going to be interesting, and
he's going to be talked about - I wouldn't say he was
over-hyped or over-talked about. And I personally think Find
Candace is a brilliant record.
