The Brit awards were complete shite. They seem to have
stopped bearing any semblance of awarding quality music and
just go for the most mindless shite out there. Maybe it's my
memory but I swear that a few years ago the Brits was an
entertaining show to watch. Now it's a bunch of sef
congratulatory shit. It was practically pronographic the
amount of wanking they showed. There was no-one performing
or winning I would call original. They were all generic
shite! BUT! I do take a stance with the "stars" who spoke
out against the war. They were using their position on
society to voice an opinion I'm sure many other people hold.
Who cares what their music is like. The fact is they had the
balls to stand up and say something about it. That actually
made it an alright show. I for one do not want to die over
Bush's greed for oil. Neither do I want my friend, who's in
the army, to do for that either. Yes he joined the army of
his own free will but NOT the American Army which is what
we've become. It fucking stinks. It pisses me off that this
country does whatever anyone says. WHY?

Anyone up for some parfait?

Let's just wait and see if Chris Martin and Ms. Dynashite
come out with the same anti-war stance when the Grammy's
happens. Let's see how strong their feelings are then. In a
country where the majority of the people back military
action in iraq. Let's see if they are willing to
disenfranchise the majority of their buying public in
america for the sake of their principals. I think you'll
find Mr Martin and Ms. Dynahite will have forgotten all
about the war when the Grammy's happens.

Contrary to what the media tell us, a large minority in
America oppose the war.

you seem to end up on the same topic no matter what people
were originally talking about.

not a bad idea, Morton ;) But then, my thread would descend

A minority can be large in size, but large in size compared
to what? The majority? Then that would make it small. It's
somewhat of an oxymoron in my opinion.

There should be some sort of documentation that could tell
us. A report or something.

well, if say you had a population of 300 million--40%, a
minority, would be just under 150,000,000. I would call that
a large amount of people. (BTW, don't go thinking I'm saying
40% of US citizens oppose the war, I'm just giving an
example of how a minority can still be large.)

"fucking ignorant twat" - haven't heard that one before, did
you look it up?

Like Marlowe said, you're dissipating the effect of what
sometimes is a valid point by droning on and on like a
bitter old jakey, change the record you miserable git.

offline NeoExmnist from United States on 2003-02-21 08:36 [#00564597]

i just don't see how it can be called 'large minority'

yeah if its that many people then its a lot, but the reason
its a minority is cuz its compared to the majority, which is
larger. so its not exactly a lot compared to the majority
so its not large. er sumthin...

Best International Band
Best British Solo
Best International Solo
Best British Album
Best International album

Is that alright now, all you detractors? You cunts enjoy a
good list don't you?

notice the word "larger" is different from the word "large"

a pretty woman is still pretty even if there is another who
is prettier. (a more subjective example I know)

well if you say a large part of the minority which is the
same as the majority of the minority, then what are the
people who aren't with the majority of minority?
sub-minority?

A large minority is the same as saying a large midget. He
might be large for a midget, but he's still a midget. End of
debate.

large isn't qualified by a percentage, minority is. Large is
qualified by the actual amount...therefore, the amount
married to the percentage doesn't equal a contradiction or
an oxymoron. It's as plain as that. If you wish to continue
banging your head on the wall, take it up with an English
teacher--because as it stands, it conforms to the rules of
the English Language.

I agree with bills original post. I wanted to like Ms
Dynamite when she came out but I just can't. Her music is
crap, she can barely sing. It's lame. And Coldplay suck as
well. I know hicks just posts negative shit about pop
culture, which isn't hard to do... but I still agree on that
one.
