Homoerotic? So were the Nazis and we know how that all ended
- yes, in spilt milk - ooooh.

I heard one guy say 'Hello Sailor' once. If you say shit
like that you are broadcasting the fact you are gay and
quite possibly slutty but not all gays are like this. It's
like a girl flashing her tits in a pub, she is gonna go
around a lot and broadcast sex.

It boils down to the fact you can't tell if a guy is gay so
you are only going to notice the 'screamers' like Norton.
Some of the best friends I have are gay and never go around
shouting 'Ooo, get her!' and shit like that.

"I don't think I have said anything homophobic, I have
merely stated that the show's content is homoerotic."

Don't worry Bill, I didn't think you did but i'm just making
sure others know as i've seen some shocking things said on
this MB about homosexuality. Some people just need educating
and it never hurts to do so.

Shocking the way this thread has changed direction...

I can't really comment on gay people, since I think I've
only met one in my entire life. She was a postman.

Never mind the fact that there have been thousands of
serious injuries (including deaths) sustained by fans of
this show copying their oh so zany stunts.

They do that themselves, no use of blaming johnny knoxville
or others. People are responsible for their own actions. You
also want to blame all stuntmen in actionmovies for people
imitating them?

If people like it, just let them. Not everyone likes the
same things you like bill. What do you think is funny then?
Benny Hill or something...

I know mate. I'm just using stereotypes. While I haven't had
any gay friends, I know they aren't all Norton-clones. I
mean, Norton and his ilk just trade off being camp gays. Its
a friendly representation of the gay community that straight
society likes and feels comfortable with.

jackass: the movie, had an awesome opening scene. I didn't
go expecting much, but, I laughed pretty consistently
throughout the whole flick. they're idiots, they admit that
openly. that's part (if not all) of the joke (hence the
name of the movie). if you don't find it funny just don't
watch it. it's pretty easy to ignore really.

- sorry for un-hijacking the thread. -

The programme is watched predominately by 11-17 year old
boys, I think it would be safe to assume. Now these boys
can't say stuff like "hey, let's fire a bunjee rope into the
hoover dam and then jump off of it like I saw in the james
bond film" but they can say things like "lets skateboard
over that cliff wearing just my underpants." Do you see the
difference? Kids don't generally copy film stunts because
they can't copy film stunts. That is why these twats are
dangerous. anybody can attempt to copy them with often fatal
consequences. Normally I would say "good, another idiot
dead" but for the sake of an argument i will say "it's a
disgrace".

there are several comdians and comedies i enjoy and I can
think of one i particularly like.

Perhaps, but as Morton says it's not the show's fault. You
can't ban every show that might be copied by some kid. Ok
let's ban the spiderman cartoons 'cause someone might try
and climb out of his/her bedroom window on the 5th floor.
Don't you see the absurdity there?

I agree that Jackass is mind-numbingly pointless but it
isn't their fault. I you want to rant about it, rant about
the television companies that permit such shows to be aired.
Moan about the plumeting quality of TV shows and movies.
Rant about the 'morons' who actually watch and pay good
money to see this stuff because they're the real culprits.
Take them out of the equation and there is no Jackass.

And as for Jackass being th worse thing to have been
broadcast, that's laughable. Just switch on the TV in the
UK. The simple fact of the matter is that other than the odd
documentary and the news (which I don't watch anymore after
they placed an article about that fucking turd prince
william's gap year BEFORE a piece about some poor 5 year
black kid being beaten to death) there is simply NOTHING

Crusty demons of dust and the Slednecks movies, to name a

It's great fun and when you're drunk you're in the right

shows are way better then most of what's on TV. ( minus the

And while a lot of other shows on TV are full of idiots and
crap, at least jackass doesn't pretend to be serious. I'm
talking about docutainment. Ricki Lake / Springer / Big
brother and all that sort of shite. I like it raw.

offline epohs from )C: on 2003-02-13 14:58 [#00554144]

I think there is a descent argument that shows like friends
and whatever else fake reality shit is on TV right now are
more dangerous than jackass and the like. because shows
like that are equally assinine, but, they portray that type
of life as perfectly rational.

so, what we end up with is an entire generation of children
growing up thinking that they are going to get to have sex
with a different absolutely beautiful woman/guy every week.
all problems are solvable in a day or two, and all have a
clear cut moral. when these kids grow up and see that
life is not all that rosey, and that things are much more
complicated they essentially have an identity crisis. their
percieved reality doesn't match what's happening to/around
them.

like magiker said, at least in jackass they fully admit that
what they are doing is retarded.

It never ceases to amaze me how much people will prostitute
themselves in the off chance they might get a bit part on
Ri:se tv and maybe a record deal. The worst thing is,
although I never saw it, I bet all the guys said yes. If my
bird took me on television to propose to me then I would
know categorically she was not the woman to marry.

Yes, I've decided if a woman ever takes me on TV I will dump
her immediately afterwards.

The people on shows like popstars are so repulsive. It'd
like to take a sledge hammer and cave in every single one of
their painted on smiles. Perhaps I'd get a record
deal then...

Oh Bill, you missed a real treat. ALL the blokes said 'yes'.
In fact, the last guy said in a voice that bterayed his real
intentions. He said "This isn't the right time...I should be
asking YOU". For a moment you thought he was gonna say no,
but he said yes. It was a truly beautiful moment and made
for great television. And the use of music was very good;
nice epic ballads from Celine Dion, Mariah etc.

I am truly sorry I missed it and I sure it was one of those
"where were you when you saw.." moments. Anyway, I wish all
the contestants all the best and I hope that they make a
reality series out of it. They could visit all the
contestants, seeing how they are all getting on in their
marriages. And maybe we could have a weekly vote about who
we think should get divorced first or who should try for
children first. And the couple that stay married the longest
could win a fucking speedboat.
