WTF? VSnares

offline Spikee Dragon from Newcastle (United Kingdom) on 2003-01-20 06:55 [#00520970]

I was listening to 'Fuck America - Fuck Canada' by Venetian
Snares and some other guy, Anyway I was listening to a track
called 'Gay' and it had the voice of Martin Luther King
mixed to say 'I have a dream, deeply rooted in crooked
little children'. Is this meant to be fucking funny? Can
someone tell me what he was up to with this and I hope it's
more innocent then Mr Funk being a racist or thinking that
all homosexuals are pedophiles. If I don't get a
satisfactory conclusion to this I will sell all my Venetian
Snares shit off and boycott him in the future.

or Racist I keep away.

'I have a dream, deeply rooted in crooked little children'.

how is it Homophobic OR Racist????

Oh yeah? I happen to fucking want to know what was behind
this. It's not just a lyric. I have no idea about this guy
and no idea if this has been discussed before. I want to
settle my own mind before buying anything else he puts out.
Is this wrong of me?

I'll go and buy a few Gary Glitter albums instead, after all
he only fucks children rather then singing about it.

derogatory to him?

Guys DONT fucking flame me kay? I just don't know so I'm
fucking asking you instead of just going right ahead and
dissing the guy kay? Fucking help me here.

Some people spread rumors (or indeed actually think) that
gay people are all pedophiles, the track title is called Gay
and it has a sample of a voice suggesting things with
children. It sparked an alarm and I thought I'd be able to
enquire here without any shit...

this eh? I hoped I was wrong (I've spent around £100 on
this guy over the past two fucking months after all) but I
wanted to know.

I hate how the moment I say a 'bad' thing about someone you
get attacked and hated rather then having an explanation
given to you so your opinion is made to point one way rather
then not knowing. I want a compelling argument not a fucking
attack. You can NOT judge me for asking this.

I sort of see your point Spikee. It reminds me of when the
first Big Brother UK was on and George Michael got arrested
for being "lewd" in a public toilet... and Nick Bateman
inferred that he wouldn't want his children around him and
the others went mad saying just because someone is
homosexual doesn't mean they fuck small kids.

As for Snares being racist, well he's denied all allegations
of that on the snares board so I guess his track is just
meant to be disturbing, maybe a step up from the CTD Lord
Faultleroy mix... but I can see why someone could take
offence at it. Shock tactics? Or just plain twatness?

From VSnares.tk

Snares; Who said I was a racist? I am against any form of
fascism period. I don't even believe in race.

Snares; Umm yeah I do live in Canada. Here everydody is
Native, y'know like Native Americans? In Canada the white
people didn't kill all the natives like they did in america.
I am probably the only white person on my block! There's
loads of black folks here too, I went out with a black girl
for a year. I've been all over the world, don't tell me it'd
be different somewhere else. Do you know why racism is so
prevelant in america? Because y'all have made it that way
and continue to do nothing at all to change it. Racism is
fear and america is built on fear, therfore too scared to
change anything in fear of your whole system crumbling, and
it would.

It didn't shock me, I just thought how lame but I wanted to
make sure my money was not going to a homophobe or a racist.

hey Spikee..dont feel too bad..I for one also think that
Funk's attempts at being "shocking" are kinda lame and
detract from his real talents which lie in the poduction and
sound creation...I dont know about this particular track but
a track called "Fluff Master"(off Songs about my Cats) could
hardly be a work of a Homophobe...

You see this guys? This is a good response. Flea suggests
compelling arguments for me to ponder which will affect my
overall opinion of this situation.

I'm not coming up to you and saying the guy IS I just want
opinions not venom. I don't know so I ask. I'm not the bad
guy here.

have a totally valid point here.

The overwhelming guilt I'm having for loosing my temper here
is killing me at the moment. I don't know how to explain
myself here. I heard that sample, I wanted to have opinions
so I could convince myself that the £100 I spent on VSnares
was not going to a homophobe or racist. I love the music and
that's why I spent lots of my money getting his music. I'm
not dissing his talent and I don't wish to destroy one of
your gods I just wanted a discussion that would hopefully
end in my doubt. I'm so annoyed at the response I got and
this will only turn into depression as the day goes on. If
someone has a bad opinion of someone you admire then
wouldn't it make sense to politely correct that person and
not get his back up. I didn't know, thats why I posted.

I also agree that V Snares attempts to be 'shocking' sound
like a lame and over-done copy of Aphex's 'Milkman' and so
on.

Before Aphex started using sweary words and toilet-humor in
his music it was unheard of. I do get the feeling that
Snares has made it his mission in life to out-aphex Aphex.

Spikee Dragon don't apologize for having an opinion of your
own. It's refreshing. Don't be an ass-kissing sheep like so
many others.

I for one agree with you.

I'm with Spikee on this one. I've only just got into V
Snares and I'd hate to think that my money was going to
someone who is prejudiced in that way. I respect ML King for
what he brought to this world. Cutting up his voice to make
him sound like a Paedo is wrong. I don't care if it was done
to someone who has done nothing for the world but him? He
doesn't deserve it. He was a great person. Thanks for
bringing it up Spikee.

yeah relax..Spikee...I have music by the likes of NON (Boyd
Rice is an a vowed fascist)..I think he is a bit of thick
headed git..but his ability to shock..man it hits you in the
gut..it is some of the most extreme and unnerving music out
there...I would never recommend you his Ideologies in fact I
will warn you in advance that he is a dick and a
prat..but..he is a frightening individual with frightening
music..made scarier by his genuine (as opposed to pretend as
is the case of VSnares) convictions
