this concert season is turning out to be QUITE a good one,
IMO.

what concerts do you plan on attending, and who are you most
looking forward to announcing dates soon?

i'm seeing
- godspeed you black emperor! (2)
- ladytron (1)
- the roots (1)
- sigur ros (1)

i'm hoping to attend at least 2 radiohead shows, i'm hoping
they plan on announcing dates to suppport their NEW album.
also i'd love to see BJORK, AIR, SONIC YOUTH, and MASSIVE
ATTACK.

dunno if APHEX is planning any US dates, but if so i'd love
to see him also, but i'm NOT counting on dat!

How much do you think it would cost to book AFX for a live
performance? I want to raise the money and get him to do a
show in the states.

good luck

and i mean that in both the "it will never happen" and the
"but I really do hope you can pull it off" ways.

Have faith! It'll only cost close to 20,000.

from what ive heard, which could be true or not... aphex
doesnt like America... and doesnt like performing here.

offline LeCoeur from the outer edge of the universe (United States) on 2003-01-15 22:47 [#00515713]

perhaps you should pick his favourite charity and arrainge
something that way.........you may have more of a chance ?

offline Zeus from San Francisco (United States) on 2003-01-15 22:49 [#00515715]
Points: 14042 Status: Lurker | Followup to LeCoeur: #00515713

some how I dont see aphex as the charity type...?

he seems like the kind of dude that is just like "im goin to
drive my tank, write music, and everyone else can piss off"

but I could be wrong. Does anyone know if he actually has a
charity he supports?

offline Duble0Syx from Columbus, OH (United States) on 2003-01-15 22:51 [#00515721]
Points: 3436 Status: Lurker | Followup to LeCoeur: #00515713

Perhaps I should win the lottery and just pay him a bunch of
money. I'd teach him to like us American fans. I bet the
tickets would sell out in less than a week here. I miss the
good old days when good bans toured here. Is rephlex ever
going to tour the US?

offline LeCoeur from the outer edge of the universe (United States) on 2003-01-15 22:52 [#00515723]
Points: 8249 Status: Lurker

i dunno if he supports one or not, but i'd be surprised if
something hasn't touched him for some reason or another.

i don't buy into the idea that he's a completely selfish
bastard.....it's a long shot, but thats the route i'd go
rather than trying to raise money for just an ordinary gig?

offline Zeus from San Francisco (United States) on 2003-01-15 22:53 [#00515725]
Points: 14042 Status: Lurker | Followup to Duble0Syx: #00515721

well... wouldnt count on it man...

when the whole fake APhex show happened this summer, the
promoter kept posting, saying how many tickets were left...
they did not sell out...

so I dont know

I also want to make a radio station. I would play REAL
music instead of all this sold out crap rock, pop rap music.
Did you know that ONE company owns 1/3 of the airwaves in
the US. Bastards. I want to give this country some Aphex
Acid!

It's about as sad as record labels buying airtime.
Especially when only 2 or 3 labels can afford it. You only
hear what they want you to hear...

it's the same damn thing on every station. they make hits
for groups because a lot of people are like robots and buy
into what they are fed.

it's truly a vicious circle!

it's hard to like anything aside from what you've been
exposed to. Everyone I've ever played AFX for loved it.
Radio stations are brainwashing the world! It's just
another way of mind control and product placement.

to book afx you have to also book a sizeable amount of
rephlex artists. this is according to rephlex records, dont
ask we he was the only rephlex artist at atp.
