hmm, there are really not much fans of idm in US
that COME TO DADDY EP was sold in 125.000 copies (biggest
sale on that chart)
and US is pretty big country hehe
cant be over 2.000.000 fans worldwide if this statistic is
right
well, could be that another 10.000.000 are buying their
music over the internet :)

they dont.

you really think these people can live off their music? Hell
no. Perhaps maybe aphex, and some other high names, because
of the popularity, and letting commericals use their stuff
etc...

But the average IDM musician is a starving musician and
works other jobs.

album-and they're selling only on our market

it's not interesting at all - it's all completey out of
context with no anchor to where it comes from - i'm suprised
any of you would belive such shaky "evidence * of poor sales
!
this might be quarterly/monthluy whatever sales it might be
for a certain part of america or it might be complete
rubbish the point is it is just a load of figures someone
got from somewhere with no context or prrof whatsover !

you lot are still taken in by it !
most of the artits on warp make a living out of it - there
is money to be made doing other things in music
touring/publishing etc - you can;'t watch the telly in the
uk without hearing a warp track ..

I've been checking this. Two things:

1. What's the source of these numbers?

2. The "0s" are likely promo copies and don't count towards
the final sales figures.

yep you can;t take this at face value at all.....
you've got to ask how this guy came across all warp's sales
figures as well - it's usually confidential

these #s all seem realistc to me, face it, not very many
people listen to this stuff in the usa and also around the
world. i mean obviously theyve made more than that
worldwide. aphex is like the only one that probably makes
enough $ from this. i mean only 3 of his albums sold well(2
are eps). anyways, they are believeable #s to me, if i ran
in to people that liked these artists all the time but I
dont so it seems somewhat realistic.

ok let say there's 280.000.000 in us
and 2.000.000 here
it would mean that come to daddy ep (which was the best
selled release in us) would be sold in 890 copies here
well, thats pretty likely i'd say
