lol you trying to win that contest I see ;) Although I will
say that crystal method KICKS ASS (mostly because Im from
vegas too ;)) But seriously, they kick ass :)

hexane on 2001-04-02 09:06 [#00002330]

i think their ok too - its interesting that rich describes
them as a 'rip-off' the chemical brothers

gotmeth? on 2001-04-03 06:50 [#00002403]

sorry about having to post that, but yes, you're right, it
was just for the contest. i didn't want anyone thinking i
was dissing RDJ being that he is THE god of techno music.
btw, do you know where he had said that the Crystal Method
was a "rip-off" of the Chem. Bros.? i'd like to see it.

yeah new album finally............

hevquip from somewhere in the u.s. on 2001-04-04 00:00 [#00002476]

there is an interview available at joyrex.com where he said
it. you'll have to look around for it though.

hexane from Melbourne on 2001-04-05 14:27 [#00002622]

he said it cos they headlined a gig he was playing at and he
only got a small mention at the bottom or something...i read
it a while back

MaFx from swaziland on 2001-04-05 14:30 [#00002623]

i agree

hevquip from horse's foot on 2001-04-05 19:13 [#00002656]

yeah...he complained because his name was at the bottom of
the flyer, but also at the top, which he didn't notice. he
was touring with crystal method and sneaker pimps...which
seems odd when you compare his music to the other two.

PostModernVancouver from Vancouver on 2001-04-06 12:20 [#00002813]

The Crystal Method???
How can anyone possible into RDJ like the CM at the same
time as theyre a whole lotta rubbish.
They have to be the most overhyped pile of crap since who
knows when.
Yes, RDJ himself cant stand the CM.
And I dont blame him.
He was put in the unfortunate position of being their
headliner on his 1997 Tour in North-America together with
the Sneaker Pimps.
So I was forced to sit through their endlessly repetitive
waste of time set of mindless, uncreative so called Techno
until RDJ came on.
Talk about actually seeing and hearing a contrast between
the GOD of the whole electronic genre and 2 arrogant
keyboard clanging morons with no talent.
After seeing RDJ live I was even more convinced of CM
absolute uselessness.
I dont care what RDJ says about them , but he did an
interview here that very day that was featured in the
article "Mad Musician or Investment banker?" and thats where
he said how he avoided the CM as much as possible since he
couldnt stand their music and found them to be
emberassing....
Erm eh Get Busy Child...

gotmeth? on 2001-04-09 05:12 [#00002948]

uhh.... hmmm.... probably because we're not all
dumbasses who only like ONE type of music. i know that RDJ
is 1,000,000 more talented than the CM, but who gives a
shit. the CM still make some cool songs.

People were more naive back in the early 00's.

Hey, i agree, CM aren't too bad at all

I'm keen for the new album

I like IDM as much as the next guy, but why should that stop
me from enjoying other forms of music as well?

music is music, and something doesn't have to be "cutting
edge" to be enjoyable

they only did a small handful of tracks of note after vegas,
but vegas was enough for them to enter into some putrid
feedback loop where their music gets licensed to shit and
that leads people to buy it which gets it licensed even
further to shit.

do you think TCM has a lot more money than RDJ? i mean, i
only heard one analord track licensed on CSI, and the car
games don't have any RDJ at all.

this popped into my head this morning, actually. i couldn't remember
what it was called. it sounds good, for about a minute or
two. then it starts to feel really repetitive. there's
enough parts in the bin if you want to do your own little
edit to fit the lab work montage scene.

There's something special about CM breakbeats.

I do like some big beat now and again but more often than
not I find it a bit repetitive.

it hasn't aged well. people have gotten more ADD and pay
more attention to subtle timing details (i think chris
cunningham said something like this in an interview?). half
the time i wonder if i still like vegas simply out of
nostalgia.

put it on while jogging or on an exercise bike, though, and
it makes sense again.
