IDM *is* prog, except it borrows from 20th century classical
instead of 18th-19th century classical.

check out http://www.quitpaxil.org --

remember that SSRI drugs like paxil, prozac, and seroxat are
drugs like any other, and unfortunately because of the fact
that the the pharmaceutical companies are a huge source of
advertising revenue for media companies, they're way less
likely to publish the volumes of negative information about
these drugs on the news when it might hurt their chance to
get paid tons of cash to show commercials of people looking
at the camera saying 'i just don't feel right'. it's not
widely known, but these are highly addictive drugs with a
large number of side effects that range from mild to severe.
read up.

here's an interesting bbc news article:

One thing to remember about the suicide stats associated
with anti-d's is that depressed people commit suicide
anyway....

so blaming it on the anti-ds is just a little off....

SSRIs are a life saver...compared to the old TCAs they are
amazing....

(claim to fame....I was in the first 100 to try Seroxat when
it became available in the UK...)...

Don't be snobby about Anti-D Meds BTW...a lot of shit is
spoken about em but a lot of people owe their live to em....

Physical exercise works well.....
I'm sure this is true, it certainly bosts endorphins or
somesuch chemical in the body that subsequently makes you
feel a bit *high*. However I was very deppresed and even
this eventually led to problems such as," why am I alone
when I exercise" I know I should of jooined a club instead
of doing it on my on but I was too sick .... you see the
problem here :-)

Somebody mentioned the long term affect of taking
medication, that eventually you experience neither ups nor
downs and YEs surprise surprise this had put a serious
downer on my so far brilliant! morning I have nothing to say
to this except that I have to trust the doctors If it
weren't for them I wouldn't be here to say this and so -yous
chose your path now follow with it or even you made your bed
now lie in it .... I'm deppresed now no-one will ever love
me I'll be alone for ever -excuse me.

(and E me anytime if you ever wanna discuss depression
etc....sadly I know a lot about depression, mental illness
etc...)...

the "not feeling anything" is bollocks...

Anti-ds flatten your mood (taking out all the highs & lows)
whilst you are taking them but they don't turn you into a
Zombie....just someone more able to cope...

And depression does pass....believe me on this...

as in anything, Z, there are degrees of depression....

On the bright side, it's been proven that most creative
people suffer from depression at one time or another (or
constantly.)...

YOU CAN USE IT AS CREATIVE FUEL....

keep that in mind...

I hope so, Vit.... the worse part of depression is the
feeling is that it will never stop....often time is as good
a healer as any pills so hang on it there...

and remember, us lot are always here if you wanna
talk....despite the distance between us, I do think of you
lot as my friends....

coping with depression...

He he, just in case we thought Jand was a MB evangelist
handing out tracts in the guise of books on depression ;)

I'm sure I've seen that book at my parents' house
somewhere... probably my dad's. I'll hunt a copy down.

Does anyone else find that when they're "up" they feel that
the lows are never actually as bad as they seem at the time
and that it's actually a richer life experiencing a wider
band of emoitions than most people?

I've been on prozac and the resulst were NOT good =o(

I think sometimes you do need a little bit of chemical help
to get you started, but you shouldent need to rely on it

I ended up on some very mild anti depressant which just gave
me that little boost to get me out of bed and start doing
things, the rest came on it's own

Doctors seem to eager to dish out prozac and my
recommendation to anyone with depression is to avoid prozac
like tha plague !!!!!!!!

prozac turns you in to a happy little zombie with no libido.

it also stimulates commiting suicides, as suicide rates are
higher with prozac users, then users of other
anti-depressants

As Jand said- could this be because prozac users are the
most messed up rather than? Rather than the drug itself?

Monoid: May be anti-drug propaganda, but I heard on the
radio one of the long term effects of E is greater
susceptibility to depression...
