I know I won't get any worthwhile replies here, but so be
it...

I love this album... it's a great one indeed... the
production is excellent, and the songs are each very good,
following Peter's usual method of a slow build-up... I
really like The Barry Williams Show, which has one of the
best chorus's I've heard in a while... Growing Up is also
excellent, with a great groove, and REALLY good
production... I Grieve is of course good, however I like the
City of Angels version a bit better...

I think I heard him perform that song on Leno or something a
few weeks ago, it was damn good. I downloaded Passion and a
couple other Gabriel albums, liked them. Where is ''Solsbury
Hill'' from, what album?

Whoa, some actually good posts... I didn't expect this...

but yeah, Solsbury Hill is like one of my favorite songs in
general... let alone Peter Gabriel songs... it IS my
favorite Peter Gabriel song... I just love it...

The song itself is on his first album, and is actually about
his departure from Genesis I believe... but it's also on the
Sixteen Golden Greats compilation which I own...

Peter Gabriels has sucked for a long while...bordering on
Phil Collins territory...

Up, Us, and Passion (his last three albums) are each
fantastic, so I disagree!

maybe i'll have it on christmas, i don't know... i like what
i've heard from it very much (even though some voices i had
to get used to it).

have you seen the video for 'barry williams show'? it's...
weird, i'd say ugly (especially the way it was filmed) but
still i watched it until the end... it's kind of insane, at
the same time too realistic but at the end with all the
blood... i don't know... it kind of disturbed me

A friend who reviewed it compared it to "Aphex Twin &
Massive Attack" which does sounds tempting...

Is that description accurate?...

No...Up isn't really like them. But it is a great album...I
hated at first, but now I love it. The words are also
meaningful, too, which makes a nice change!

I've never been much of a Gabriel fan myself, he has made
some good music that I like though, but I hate that fucking
Salsbory Hill song

i don't think 'barry williams show' is the best song of the
album at all though. i like the stanzas, but i don't like
the chorus.

there are better songs on the album!

...

on first listen i liked it (found it good, not amazing but
good).
on second listen, i liked it more... more on third...
now 10 days after, i feel like it's a masterpiece!
' _ '

'the drop' makes me feel so nostalgic... i can't listen to
anything else right after it's finished...

other time you've made a topic about him.

I don't like his new album, but I've been listening to his
early solo stuff and it is GREAT. The first three self
titled albums are fantastic. He's sexy.

Passion and Us are two of the most personal, and emotional
albums I've ever heard... they just touch me personally like
nothing else!! Those two albums are most of the reason I'm
such a big fan!

i don't like Sledgehammer... but otherwise i think he has
many great songs (from what i've heard anyway). I've been
meaning to listen to Up... i like the artwork already :-)

Up is great if you listen to it while driving alone at
night, all the way through. "Drop" is *the* perfect ending
track...Love it, I do!

i'm loving this album, just got it. On first listen my
favourite tracks are Signal to Noise, Darkness and I
Grieve.

Think i might have to get some more of his albums, whats
Passion like?

Ooooh, passion is nice... really intense listen I think... I
like to think of it as a trip through darkness to find the
light at the end of the tunnel... the reason I say that is
because it is very dark and brooding throughout, but the
last few songs really have an uplifting feel... it's all
instrumental too, no singing... well, no lyrics anyways...
there are lots of vocals, but it's just notes, not words...
and it's kinda middle eastern music or something, although I
don't think you can really narrow it down to one specific
type of world music... but it definitely has a middle
eastern feel... I think you'd like it!

i'm a big Peter Gabriel fan, in fact he is just about how i
got started in w/ music, but i had a listen to Up clips in
Tower once and i didn't hear anything special about it. i
just thought maybe he had been out of the game to long or
something.

did Daniel Lanois produce this one too?

this opinion may not mean much though as i didn't like Beck,
Sea Change clips at Tower either in the beginning.

Big Time and Steam are some of the greatest songs of all
time and Sledgehammer, there is just nothing like it in pop
music, but The Barry Williams Show was just ok i thought.

Us is my favourite. Up (damn his two letter word album
titles) is good but i think it didnt have the strength of
his last 2 major albums.
