and dont mix it up with 'what's your favorite album, or what
album has most influenced YOU'.

it has to be as objective as possible.

this is a waste of time - do tyou think a country musician
or a classical violinist or timabaland or aphex or whatever
care about some lazy cod psyechedelia by the beatles?

who cares about the beatles - only oasis.. or some crusty
old journalist who has a campaign for real rock going on -

i don't like rock music very much at all - boring old white
men wanking off their guitars - i prefer timabland aphex and
violins -

Just because you don't like rock music, the Beatles are
insigifigant? Nah.

I guarantee you if you put John Lennon, Timbaland, Richard
D. James, and a man with a violin in a pit and told them to
fight to the death, John would win. That's all that matters,
pit-death-fights. Case closed, I win this argument.

it's just too stupid a question !! and completley subjective
!!
you can never have an objective view on it -
but it's worth remebering the best selling album of the 60's
was the soundtrack to the sound of music...

stupdi hero worshiping idiot - yuou don't think all your
choices are'nt completley personal choices - you're
extremley naive - so john lennons better cos he's the
hardest - it's easy to crush dry bones to dust he idied 20
years ago!!

that's the most retarded argument! "i don't like rock music
very much at all " so you say no one else cares about the
beatles? i dont see the logic there pal.

offline astrid-gil-botn from Londinium (United Kingdom) on 2002-11-22 16:40 [#00452053]

complete objectivity doesnt exist. that's why i said to be
as objective as possible, as you can be at certain degree
ofobjectivity without ever reaching it.

you know what im sayin?

the basis of this argument is totally ridiculous - what's
the most influential album of all time?
ridiculous - my argument is that - not that the beatles
aren't influential

perhaps you'd like to elaborate on the ridiculousness of my
question (that you seem to think is an argument for some
reason).

there can and never wil be the most infuential album of all
time - its a totally stupid and impossible thing to try and
qualify as the world is too big - what parameters do you
have - pleasure, technical influence - how many children
were concived when it's played in someone's home , sales,
band size and instruments played - race of the mem bers -
drum patters?

to me, the most influential artist: the artist that is
stated the most often by artists saying they/he/she has
influenced them. talking about music.

half the time when i read about artists stating the biggest
influences, the beatles are constantly out there being
mentioned.

OF COURSE we'll never find out empiracally who the most
influential srtist is, for the same reason we'll never know
what the best song is.

It's never stupid to have discussions like this. Not like
we're making all this official, it's just opinions. But then
again, we're all total idiots for even talking about this.
Damn us!

Tomita , the bemuda triangle, very very early electronic
stuff .I have the lp and aparently
there is a hidden code in the record that can be found using
some old computor thats probably extinct now .i may never
know what that hidden message is :( but yea this album is
loved by squarepusher so its gota be groundbreaking.

I can put away a good number of dark English pints and feel
great, even lucid at the time but it's hell the next day. I
think I need one extra hour of sleep on Saturday afternoon
for every pint I stow away on Friday.

Tonite I play it safe with a niggardly pittance of
Groltches.

I'd have to say that Bach is more influential than
Beethoven. Without Bach there'd be no Yngwie Malmsteen.
