I'm always disappointed by the fact that I can`t meet girls
that share my musical passion...

Is it the same for you?

The girls at my school say...

"Wow, this is stupid, just rap without the words."

...in which I promptly smack them.

most girls i dont even bother. unless im joking, and looking
for my headphones to get thrown at me.

but ther's the odd few that'll hand me back the headphones,
or a cd and tell me they dug it.

who cares. you can't expect anyone to like idm, let alone
someone you want to date. just look for other shared
interests.

it's like:
who cares.

Man, I'd rather have a gf who can show me a totally
different kind of music I can learn to apreciate.

It's be ok if they like idm, but it wouldn't really make
much difference, otherwise it'd be too much like goin out
with a female version of yourself, or something.

Boring conversations, no playful arguments etc etc

I'd like atleast to meet a girl that would share my pation
for music, that atleast would understand my excitement for a
new AE release, or why I love to spend afternoons on my
couch with a pair of headphones.

I don`t say that she has to be a copy of me, but I would
love for once a girl with something in common.

I'm tired of going out with girls and have nothing to say to
them except dumb jokes.

Or maybe I'll have just to wait till I get to college =\

friends owns two monolake cds, another owns druqks and has a
ton of stuff on her computer, one of my girl friends owns
and has more downloaded electronic music then I do, girls
like this shit, you just gotta give it to them or else they
will listen to the strokes.

Ugh! All the girls I know about that share my musical
passion are heavy drug abusers... Or dating one. And music
is veeeeery important to me... Even more important than how
the girl looks and I'm pretty shallow in that matter!

knocks evil Q upside ze head!!!

seriously.....with patience people can learn to like
something that initally they didn't like or get into.

the relationship needs to be worth it to you. music is not
everything.....contrary to what a lot of you think now. it's
a nice commonality to have, but again you want someone who
stimulates your mind, that will keep things going long after
RDJ starts making elevator music....tee hee

My girlfriend and I get along great though our tastes in
music vary considerably.
We have some common picks: Tori Amos; Nine Inch Nails; The
Beatles, to name a few. But then we have our own stuff.
She's into stuff I can appreciate that isn't really up my
alley--Type O Negative for instance. I like all kinds of
stuff that would drive her nuts. It's fine with me that she
doesn't share my love of AFX or Autechre (she likes the name
though--she even says it in a really cute voice!) :) But
the point is, the personality is important, not the styles
of music they like. If Lindsey listened to nothing but
Slipknot/Eminem sorts of things, I'd still love her. I'd
still value my time with her if we ended up listening to
flavor of the month records instead!

Also, she thinks IDM should stand for "Internet Dork Music"
(and I agree) because it's music for computer geeks ;)

It would be totally different if I'd find out later that my
gf liked brittney spears and nothing else, then I'd still
love her... But if I found out before we got togeather I'd
probably never considder anything more serious tan a one
night stand. It just feals so repelling... I can't really
explain. :/

Christina Aguilera more than anyone i know. ;)
I love her (LIndsey) more than anything!

"seriously.....with patience people can learn to like
something that initally they didn't like or get into."

I know that, but they don`t really pick up the passion. It
seems like to me as if they are making an effort to be
liked, for then droping any interest in it two days after we
break up =\

And I totally agree that it is important to be
intellectually stimulated and it is not about music.
But what good does it do if she is all about politics and
social issues, while I'm all about music?
I'll be bored to tears when she speaks, and will be she when
I talk.

you're being unrealistic to believe someone will have the
same passion about ANYTHING that you have.

you are setting expectations about women and you will always
be disappointed. why not accept them for who/what they are,
you'd like the same thing in return.

My best experience was...

Me: *puts on massive headphones*
Girl: Why do you always have such big headphones?
Me: Because I can hear the music without any distractions.
Girl: Then it must be some good music, let me hear it.
*Puts on headphones*
*Eybrow tension*
Girl: Grayson, why do you have to listen to such weird
music?

It happened to be in the middle of All The Children Are
Dead, oh well.

I think I actually DO hate girls... I never develop crushes
or want to be with anyone. Only once in my life, and I
fucked that up! I'm content to be alone, that's my lot in
life.

I don't know anyone, male or female, that likes IDM where I
live, seriously. I met a Kraftwerk fan once, and asked if he
liked Autechre... never heard of them. Christ...
