Track title language invention

offline S M Pennyworth from East Timor on 2002-09-07 13:11 [#00383037]

i came up with this short simple track title language that
shows me the elements of the track, my rating and the
feeling of it! this is a good idea for all music making kids
cause its convenient and the track titles get to be real
strange.

exactly what is trolling, and excuse me if i expose you to
it. i dont understand.

i´m not from kraptastica, but i made up my own great track
title language, i call it Rymm/Fekt 1.0 because its the
first version of it. cheers.

are you serious, "qrter"?

wow.. the attitude really has changed on this message board
over the years.. sorry. but are´nt there plenty of other
threads for you to be interested in instead of being a bit

Wehey a bitch fight.Entertainment!

Avtually this Rymm/Fekt 1.0 sounds quite good I like the
concept of how the name forms.

Tell me more......What names has it come up with?

offline S M Pennyworth from East Timor on 2002-09-09 15:42 [#00385420]

I have´nt got the papers sorted yet (it all came to me
listening to my tracks) but its like one short word for each
concept.
Example (not actually rymm fekt):

Acid element : "wys" (+ digit value for rating and so on)..

I´ll follow this up later when i´m finished.

without trying to be bitchy, I really don't know what you're
trying to say here..

let me elaborate. my problem with a thread like this,
especially the first post, is that Pennyworth makes some
general statement and doesn't explain anything. that to me
makes me wonder why you would post this. when you don't
really tell us anything, what reaction can we give?

honestly, its not meant to be bitchy..

that's amazing. what is it with electronic musicians and
stupid song titles? it might have been cool 10 years ago,
but get off it. you're not richard. it's not like you have
such a expansive repertoire that you can no longer invest a
minute into a proper song title.

having said that, here's my system. ;)

whenever i get any idea whatsoever, it goes directly into
the catalog, which is a perl script of my own design that
sorts out all the files in each subdirectory of my original
music folder. i give each track a simple 9 digit numbrical
name, such as "099011004.mid", which tells me it was the
99th song cataloged and it was written on october 4, 2001
(###YYMMDD.FMT).

when i run the script it loads the catalog on a cgi
generated html page and lists them in numbrical order. from
there i can choose to edit the title and various info for
the new track, which in the example above would be stored in
a new file called "099.pl". this will apply that general
info to all files that start with "099", be it alternate
versions, mediums, remixes, various tracks (layers) or final
mixdowns.

if the song or idea wasn't written on software, i simply
record a small sample on wav. when my script detects wav
files, it wants to know what instrument they are, just so i
know. not that i couldn't tell by listening to it, but it
makes it easier to locate from the catalog. plus, in the
case of multitrack recordings, i'll know which layer each
one represents.

my god..

I just pick a dutch word I like the sound of, not so much
the meaning.

for example, my last track is called "zinvol".

oh, god, thats true! in that thread about things you didn't
like about your personality or something.. thats right,
forgot about that..

well, if I have said it before, that makes it all alright
then.. :)

that qrter guy must of had a bad day.
yeah well, that title language was made up by shorts for
words that in reality were longer, and i just made up words
that i thought were more correct to the element. i can go
back to an old track and by the title i can decipher what my
feelings were for the track, what rating i gave it and so
on, without taking up a whole page.
