Now I know Pulp Fiction is probably going to win this hands down, but I'm interested to see what people loved about Resevoir Dogs. Of course Pulp Fiction had it's subtle humour which I absolutely love, whereas Resevoir Dogs had the harder edge, which I also love...hurray for love! So come on, let's hear your views.
P.S. Does anyone else think Quentin Tarantino chose his role as Jimmy in PF just so he could talk down to Samuel L. Jackson?

Wow! this is a very tuff choice. I love both movies , in fact i can't chose.
Maybe i can stretch myself to say that both them movies is better then Jackie Brown.
Jackie Brown had the best soundtrack tho. Bobie Womack-Across 110th street and Brothers Johnson-Strawberry Letter 23
RESPECT!!

I think they are tied... And I think Quentin Tarantino chose his role because he always plays part where he gets to say funny shit. Look at Four Rooms. Maybe he just wanted to say "nigger" in front of black guy. Maybe just because it was the only unimportant part he felt like playing...

RD
I found it more raw, if that is possible, compared to PF. Maybe it's jus that I've seen it 10x more than PF, but still.
"OMG, I'm going to fucking die!" "Hey are you a doctor?" *bleeding all over..."No" "Then shut the fuck up, you ain't gunna die"
Maybe in the end RD is more simple, more basic, and that is why I see it as more emotional and powerful, both eye opening movies.

Actually, Tarantino wasn't sure if he wanted to play the role of Jimmy or of Lance the herion dealer.... he chose Jimmy because he wanted to be behind the camera during the adrenaline shot scene.....

they're both cool i like the scene (and the music) in reservoir dogs when michael madsen is dancing around the cop, before he cuts his ear off
and pulp fiction is full of great scenes as well + samuel l jackson is there
i like the scene with zed in the basement

I`d probably say pulp fiction is the better film....reservoir dogs is excellent, and maybe more memerable[as it was his first movie, and for certain scenes]but it is a rip off of Ringo Lam`s City on Fire, starring chow yun fat [reservoir dogs is better than city on fire though]nearly identical in some parts--robber shooting 2handguns killing cops in cop car,and both films end in a warehouse, ending in a mexican standoff[chow yun fat,the undercover cop, shot in the belly-and Danny Lee,the mr white type charecter, not believing hes an under cover cop]:D

jackie brown did it way too much, ruining it.

Lou: I went to the McDonalds over in Shelbyville the other day.
Chief Wiggum: The Mc-what? Lou: Yeah, I never heard of it either but they say they have over 2000 locations in this state alone.
Eddie: Hmm...Must've sprung up over night. Lou: But you know, its the little differences. Chief Wiggum: Example? Lou: Well at a McDonalds you can get a Krusty Burger with cheese. But they don't call it a Krusty Burger with cheese.
Chief Wiggum: Get out! What do they call it? Lou: A quarter pounder with cheese. Chief Wiggum: Quarter pounder with cheese...well I can see the cheese but? Hey, do they have Krusty's Partially Gelatinated Gum-Based beverages?
Lou: Yeah, they call them 'shakes.' Eddie: *Pfft* 'Shakes.' You don't know what you're gettin'.

Reservoir Dogs for me.
Don't get me wrong, I love Pulp, but I just love Reservoir some more.
I love the fact that it is a real simple movie, just some guys who don't know each other, commited a crime, some cops involved and that's all. I mean, it's basically a movie in one scene. The movie is just based on dialogs, powerfull dialogs, hardly any special effects. Good acting by the way, some darn good acting.
Damn it, one of the best movies ever.
And, listen to that soundtrack... (this last goes as wel for the pulp soundtrack).

I definitely prefer Pulp Fiction--but I have no complaints about Reservoir Dogs.
Here's what I think is better with Pulp Fiction: 1) the non-linear story is more suited to PF
2) the characters are better developed and more likable. Reservoir dogs has only two big characters: mr. orange and mr white.
3) pulp fiction stuns you all the way through--reservoir dogs is a big jolt at the end. That's a big difference just in the style of the film.
4) pulp fiction is riddled with small details. it'll be a line of dialogue or a background character, or the way the camera moves, but all these little things are just nice touches that make PF purely original and completely genuine, I say.

Pulp Fiction for me... but they're both really good.
& I think Quentin's character was supposed to be so "down" with samuel that he can say nigga and it be cool, but it looked a bit unconvincing that he was good friends with this badass gangster.
errr anyway... Taranitino's taste in music really adds to the films I think.
