I just had a thought, although I've never seen it... Run
Ronny Run is entirely undervalued because it's never going
to be released. I love Mr. Show, it's probably the greatest
sketch comedy shows ever produced in America. I heart David
Cross.

I say Rawhead Rex by Clive Barker!
Old film, cheap film, many say crap film but I love the way
the film admits that not all beasties appear & kill without
the majority of humans seeing - everyone see's him!
Also - Nightbreed, a horror based with the beasts being the
good guys and humans the bad!!

The Dark Crystal!!

Hehehe - classic in its day!

Flim-flam....Nightbreed was great wasn't it?

Hedwig And The Angry Inch
If you liked Moulin Rouge... well, Hedwig isn't really
"better", just "different". Instead of boisterous and
hollow, it's deep and poignant. (But still loud and stylish
and hilarious) Instead of cartoon characters and themes,
it's real and human and thoughtful.

thanks, LeCoeur.

lets see if we can reanimate this topic..

how about "after hours"?
I've only seen it once - such a scary film, almost
hallucinogenic..

offline smokehammer from Saigon (Vietnam) on 2002-08-26 16:26 [#00365777]
Points: 1463 Status: Lurker

Withnail & I > classic British comedy fare
Shower > Intriguing Chinese social analysis
Red violin > Samuel L Jackson as an auctioneer, charting the
life of a historical instrument... really quite
gripping in a subtle way

A.I. is a pile of over-rated bollocks, & this topic is for
movies that DIDN'T get highly publicised Hollywood releases
... so there :)

film.

lecoeur, you have AGAIN impressed me.

when was the wedding again?

and where'd you get the dvd? i haven't found it _anywhere_,
but you really can't find anything decent here in finland.

I've wanted to see Heavenly Creatures because I love Peter
Jackson, but I've been sticking to his older gore films,
like Bad Taste and Dead Alive, both of which are excellent
works of horror.

Another film that I really liked was Time and Tide, the Tsui
Hark action film. It's got incredible style.

Pomme De Terre: Nice choices, I'm also a big Jim Jarmusch
fan.

Also, have any of you seen a film by Samuel Fuller? If you
haven't you should, any film by him is amazing, but The Big
Red One, Shock Corridor, and Underworld USA are probably my
top.

I also think Il Mostro (The Monster) is one of the most
overlooked comedies.

...i just have a thing for movies where girls go crazy, so
maybe i should mention girl, interrupted and virgin suicides
here too.

allthough they are not quite undervalued really.

i do and i DONT wanna see that movie.

i dunno ..... sounds a bit HARSH and while i am used to some
of that stuff.....sometimes i prefer not to see such movies
that will effect me negatively.

i wonder if that movie will ever be available for rent in
the US? thats the question.

------

i'll keep you in mind with the movie.....and well do a trade
for something finnish....perhaps chocolate?.....ahahha

HEAVENLY CREATURES..

LeCoeur and Neetta: I am in love with you both.

I've seen it twice in the cinema and a few times on video.
its in my top 10 best films.

the murder of the mother is so horrific..

I think it was the Kate Winslett character that became the
crimewriter..

now i found that animations info.

it's La Plánete Sauvage, french/chzeckoslovakian (how on
earth is that spelled) animation made in 1973 by Rene Laloux
and some other guys.

So if some of you bump into this one i'd strongly recommend
it.

The Count of Monte Cristo- solid example of good guy/bad
guy, good guy wins and gets the chick

My Girl- who doesn't cry when Thomas J dies??

Cannibal: The Musical- frappin funny because it's incredibly
random, and it makes fun of musicals...

neetta: you might want to look up the plot for "baise-moi"
on imdb before going out and renting or buying it..

lecoeur: you can't send neetta dvd's cos we're in region 1
and she's in region 2 or another region. either way the
dvd's would be useless to her (unplayable) unless she has a
dvd player purchased in north america.

jabizzy: no offense to your personal tastes but i thought
the movie adaption of the count of monte cristo was horrible
:( at least the 2002 version was, i don't know if there are
older stabs at the book. but the novel is one of my
favorites and the story is really terrific. the saddest book
i've ever read for sure. the 2002 film changed way too much
of the story.

region locked dvd's are intended to prevent people in other
countries from seeing movies that are in their movie
theaters (or haven't even arrived there yet), or in the most
capitalist scenario, to prevent people from spending money
on imported dvd's in case they're cheaper than ones bought
in local stores.
