i bought this album by miles davis a few hours ago.

i already had so many albums that are described in reviews
as "jazzy" or "jazz influenced" that i really like. And now
that i've been getting into squarepusher, who is also very
much influenced by jazz, i felt it was time to buy a proper
jazz-release.

I'd heard many nice things about Kind of Blue, i really
liked the text on the back of the albumcover, + it was
really cheap, so i deceided this was a good starting-point
:-)

What does everyone here think about it?
(i'm liking it alot!)

I'll check it out. my GF's dad has an gargantuan jazz record
collection, I'm sure he has this release.

Bitches Brew is amazing, as is Kind of Blue. So What is one
of my all time favorites jazz tunes. The lazy trumpet on it
really just fits with the title. It actually has a 'so what'
feel to it. I dig Miles.

Surrounded, do you have A Love Supreme by Coltrane?

you know, I hear jazz @ work for 8 hours a day, as that is
what the boss plays on the sales floor. I appreciate it and
all, but i can't enjoy it.

It is a treat when he puts on a Miles Davis CD though, more
"aggressive" jazz than we normally hear, and man can he play
that trumpet.

i was just thinking about that mccabe :-)
It's really hard to imagine that the music was recorded so
long ago... and it doesn't even sound dated. I really like
the idea that these people put their heart and soul into
these pieces of music... and now 40 years later, it is still
touching my heart... that's awesome.

I'll pay extra attention to All Blues the next time it comes
along, thanks!

When i've fully absorded this one, i'll be sure to make
Bitches Brew my next purchase!

nope, don't have that coltrane-album. Kind of Blue was
literally my first ever jazz-album :-)

but i noticed coltrane also plays on kind of blue... so this
"a love supreme" you talk about must be good?
