Anyone into d/ling DivX movies?

Lets talk about that, shall we?

I'm pretty into it. Got a nice big collection..

What filesharing programs are you using? Soulseek has the
speed I'm looking for, but the quantity is poor. Kazaa has
the quantity but it takes for-fucking-ever to get a movie..

Are you labeling your discs? Are you editing the files? Are
you ripping DVDs? What software are you using?

I'm starting my own collection. I use Kazaa too and I don't
mine the speed that it d/ls at...i have about 30 so far...10
of which i'm currently d/ling. What I would like to do is
find out how I can convert my dvds to divx. I have a couple
of software but I can never figure out how to sync the audio
with the video. If anyone who knows how to do that lemme
know. Thanks

I'm trying to rip the audio portion only of a couple of
DVDs. I found this article helpful to start with.

I have a few. I've deleted over 50 for hard drive space. I
need that fucking program that clips mpegs...

I used Kazaa mostly cause the speed is great sometimes.
Soulseek has more cult stuff IMO, good shit. More secure
connection on there too.

I am looking for the Bill Murray film 'The Man Who Knew Too
Little' if anyone can help! I will trade =oD

zeus: sounds like a codec issue.

run a search for 'nimo codec pack' (sorry too lazy to find
the url right now) download and install it. it will extract
all the necessary codecs for divx support.

re: the producers - it's ok, if it wasn't you it would've
been me arguing with someone else with your view. i made it
clear up front that it's something that really bothers me,
so i'm sure you can understand how the thread degenerated a
bit.

i can start doing divx trades in september. i'll give you a
list of divx movies i have / have access to then.

i look forward to seeing modulations especially! the movies
i mentioned are the ones i've had the hardest time finding
in rental places.

Me me me!

I download movies off of Soulseek then burn them to CD-R.

I have about 30 burned. The only one I'm sharing on Soulseek
is ''Battle Royale''. My harddrive just isn't big enough...

And I want to burn it onto disc, but it's too big! Anyone
know how to compress it without knowing too much about that
technical stuff? Any programs... I don't want to cut the
file in half if I can help it... pain in the ass.

Zeus... have you gotten your .AVIs working YET?

oph:

look into a pgm called Virtualdub. While it can be a bit
buggy at times, it the most intuitive utility I've found for
splitting .avi files... easy to use...

Winrar will also do the trick, however it will render your
file unwatchable until you bring the 2 compressed files
together on your HD.

woops.. i just read your post. i mean r e a l l y read
it..

you DONT want to split the file... hmm. there has to be some
utilities out there do say..'dumb down' the quality, switch
the audio to mono... something that will cut down on the
size..

Ill keep my eyes peeled

Yeah... I have a program that I can't figure out that will
compress the files by 40% with very little quality drop...

But like I said, it can be done, I can't figure it out...
just wondering if there was any similar programs that are
more user friendly.

Thanks anyway man... I think I may have to just give in and
split the thing.

Alright, for your problem, go to http://www.divx.com/divx/
and download the middle codec. Then install it and only
install the codec, dont instal the movie player becasue
Windows Media can do everything that this player can. If
you really have a problem with windows media then go to
http://www.download.com and search for global divx and
download it. Its a great divx player that i personally use
for all my stuff.

As for downoading. If you want good rare divx, dont use
soulseek, it is made for music so dont even bother. If you
can find what you need on kazaa definatly go for it becasue
it can be blazing fast, i can get over 150 k/sec on my
videos. If you want to get rare videos though, direct
connect is probably the best. It is great becasue it is not
bad speed and it has lots of files. It is a bit harder to
use, but if your god with the computer it should come
easily.

thanks hapie and welcome to the board. that's good advice
about direct connect, it's a little known secret online
(like soulseek once was) but the nu's deserve to know about
it. it's also good for getting "screener" dvd rips of movies
that aren't even out yet (eg: one hour photo).

it sure is, i first ran into DC when downloading ps2 games
for my freinds. My friened told me aobut it and it has been
the best source for every download. Games, appz, divx, i
use it for everything except music becaue soulseek is
definatly boss.

Direct Connect, eh? Interesting... very interesting... I've
made a mental note to get this, sounds verrrry nice.

You get 150kb/s on Kazaa? Fuck... Kazaa seems really shit
compared to Soulseek, to me...

Ophecks: Ya i get great sped on kazaa, the rick with kazaa
is to find a result that has a lot of hte same files (shown
by a little + sigh beside the download. Once downloading go
to the transfers window and just keep clicking find more
sources for download like 5 times. If you do that every
hour or so it will downlaod from every user who has that
file and it will download little parts from each user and
add up all of thers speeds.

Titsworth: Well to tell you the truth, i have no clue what
those movies are. But im sure ther are some specialized
hubs that would have them. Ther out there somewhere.

reading a very boring essay while the film is going on.

I fell asleep when I watched it with the commentary track on
