Episode II is also shit.

I suppose we're too nostalgic.

That battle with the gung gungs in the end is so pathetic.
it makes Toy story 1 look fresh!

Too nostalgic maybe, but I remember loving watching any of
the first three SW flicks.. the special effects didn't take
over and there was.. y'know, dialogue worth repeating.

EP I and II seem to me like technical exercises in excess,
simply because Lucas has an alarmingly large boner for
Industrial Light and Magic.

(on that note, i desperately miss the use of obvious blue
screens in movies)

And u can´t pretend to change Yoda´s teachings for a bunch
of cool jumps...
Too superficial.

You are a disgrace to all Star Wars fans.....a true fan
would just accept it for what it is. It isn't a bad film by
no means....there is nothing wrong with the CG effects. It
isn't the best of the five that are complete, from a story
point of view. I think we've discussed this enough in the
other Star Wars topics.....and therefore I don't think it
warrants another unjust flogging.....

Lucas is scraping the bottom of a really shitty barrel. He
should have quit on a high with Howard the Duck. That shit
was dope.

Im not a disgrace for the fans, just for the nerds ;)... And
i really enjoyed episode 1 when it came out. I was very
sceptic and had alot of bad things to say about the film but
i forced myself to like it just becouse its star wars... i
can see much clearer now. Episode 1 sucks, except those
fight scenes with darth maul & every single scene with darth
sidious ( i love him ). Episode II is much better as a film
and as pure entertainment. Episode one felt fake...not
really star wars. isnt like 50% of the movie about gung
gungs?

i cant wait until they all come out and you try and watch
them in a row... the last three are not going to be similar
at all. in my opinion i think they put way too much
technology in the new ones... they just wont fit all
together.

The Phantom Menace was terrible, and Episode 2 wasn't much
of an improvement.
The real problem is that George Lucas seems to think hes
creating some kind of period costume drama. He forget the
funny, corny dialogue and fresh acting that made the first
three good. Star Wars is stale because the creator turned it
into a franchise, plain and simple.

Empire Strikes Back is still the best film of all time,
though.

raimons: best avatar ever.

I don't know what you're talking about though, the special
effects of Episode I were amazing, at the time the best of
any movie ever made. Actually that is pretty much true of
every Star Wars. People have a hard on for bashing George
Lucas, they think it elevates them, the man is a genius.

oh ohhh, I think someone opened a can of shit here...I
agree, to a point. I think there was some stuff in the first
Star Wars that sucked ass. But hey it was still Star
Wars...Episode II is very good, explains a lot of
things....but Lord of the Rings Two towers , and the Return
of the King is going to kick Star Wars right where it hurts.

NO SHIT!!!!!! i left the theater in tears, almost...darth
maul made things a lil better, but a 10 min. fight scene
can't make up for the horrible hours before hand

I liked 2 though, don't ask me why it just had
something................oh yea, no 5 yr old kid trying to
act. G/L should take it easy with CGI though, its annoying

originally, star wars was to end with Han Solo dying and the
rebels scattering throughout the galaxy. This was until Gary
Kurtz, the producer and George Lucas' advisor for the first
two films, quit after arguing about the inclusion of ewoks
in Return of the Jedi.
Kurtz had been keeping Lucas in check, giving him good story
ideas, and the day he left the production was the day star
wars went downhill.
George Lucas is a fat fuck who forgot how to make real
movies.

Here's why it sucked:

1) Jar Jar Binks
2) Anakin was a child
3) Seemed to be a bit childish

That was Star Wars worst character in the world. I always
hoped for him to die.

The problem is that anakin HAD to be a child, sure it could
have been done better but i'm not going to call G/L an idiot
and cast all those amazing film moments away.

And i loved the CGI in ep2, esp. the clone battle at the
end, just blew me away in the cinema. Plus, no one, not even
lord of the rings can get any closer to the swashbuckery of
star wars, not even close.

Lord of the Rings is no where close to Star Wars. Its so far
ahead of it that it makes Star Wars look like an amateur
kids film.

The problem was it was extremely turgid, and far too
childish. Episode 2 was a lot better, it started off being
another turgid political thing, and with some sappy romance,
but about half way through it actually got good and I
enjoyed it :)
