Is this their new album? I'm just listening to it for the
first time just now, the first song... pretty good stuff. I
love these guys, and I HATE most ''nu-metal''.

Any SOAD fans in the know, what's up with this?

Man... it is MOST DEFINITELY SOAD... no doubt. THAT much is
obvious.

It's great so far, but no different from their others... but
great nonetheless. Serj is amazing.

It sounds finished, but with slightly inferior sound
quality. Not mastered 100% yet, but sounding VERY polished
and complete, otherwise.

not really a big fan of heavy music, with the exception of
Limp Bizkit... now there's an album I'm looking forward to,
a new LB album babee!!!

SOAD, it looks like SOAP... and SOAP would be a cool name
for a heavy band... almost as good as SOAD, or Limp
Bizkit!!!

Those are songs that didn't make Toxicity but leaked onto
the net.

I heard they might release them later this year or next
year, I dunno.

Has anyone ever heard of Deadsy? The band is fronted by
Cher's son Elijah Blue and I think they're lumped in with
the nu-crap scene.. Most of their output is kinda flakey,
brilliant concepts but poor execution. I do recommend
however that everyone download the song 'Mansion World'.
AMAZING -- I wonder why we haven't heard it on the radio
yet..

working on these songs right now in order to make them a
proper album. this isn't an advance copy of that, just the
demos i mentioned.

system of a down are just another shitty american hard rock
band, doing the same as everyone else = 'nothing special'

nnoooo !!

Man they rock, and they don't do the same as everyone else.

True, the two recent songs that they have released have been
slightly mainstream, but have you listened to anything else
on the album?

I think they're in a world of their own and they make me
laugh, unlike most of today's artists who try and sound all
so "Spiritual, and Deep"

NU metal sux, but system rocks >=op

i like just sticking to my electronic music.
which have no lyrics.
i find the human voice Disgusting and annoying. like you
said "unlike most of today's artists who try and sound all
so "Spiritual, and Deep"

electronic music is all about sound not themes, personal
struggle ect

I'm not a fan of ''nu-metal'', but I love these guys. Serj
Tankian is awesome, he does some funny things with that
voice of his.

The music is nothing special, but very angular and polished,
not bad at all. The lyrics are over the top and serious, but
with their tongue kind of in cheek... there's a weird sense
of humor in there. It's SERJ that makes me love them. The
guy is the best.

Therapy (ESPECIALLY Therapy) are reeeeallly great... this

SO...

I've gotten to know this album the last few days, and like I
said, it has made my summer much better.

Anyone else that's heard it, what do you think of it?
Favorite songs?

I'd say it's slightly superior to Toxicity, slightly
inferior to System of a Down (debut).

Serj's vocals are the thing that really lift the band above
other nu-metallers...

Alot of progressive metal bands do the same shit. Just like
TOOL sucks, but they appear good in comparison to the usual
standard.

I downloaded it around March. It came with a text file that
said something about it being a promo from some concert, and
Serj handed out 10 copies. Luckily some nerd got a hold of
it and released it on the net. It's pretty good though. The
story i heard was they made a heap of songs, and chose the
best to put on Toxicity, and this album is the leftovers.
Anyway, i like SOAD, although i think they're disappointing
live. Serj craps on about heaps of shit about Armenia, like
i give a shit, i just want him to play. I'll listen to that
shit in the lyrics.

it's important that someone says that "crap" though. it's
good he's utilizing his fame for a good cause.

offline brendan from Adelaide (Australia) on 2002-09-04 19:43 [#00378905]
Points: 157 Status: Regular

Yeah, but seriously, most of their lyrics is already about
all what happened to the Armenian people and stuff. When i
saw them live, half the act was them shitting on about it. I
didn't pay for a history lecture, i just wanted to hear them
play. I know it's all important and stuff, but they could
save it for the end of the show. Not get everyone worked up
in the pit, then stop for 5 mins for a speach about Armenia.
