Those tracks were so much fun at the time! Who's doing that
now?

the sl2 track will be either on a ragga tip or DJs take
control

i met altern8 once in stafford macdonalds
2 blokes wearing those dumb rave radiation suits complete
with gas masks (& vics) and an 8 foot tall robot which
unfortunately decided to shake my hand

*nods* alrern8 were mind numbingly groovy

anybody remember that rave version of Carmina Burana??..that
was a laff and a half..but still strangely I found myself
dancing to it..every single time :)

I know they were mid-90s but remember Technohead 'I Wanna Be
a Hippy'? I preferred the Smurfs 'I Wanna Little Puppy'.

Yeah, I basically recorded everything from this scene on my
VHS back in those days.

Altern8 had their moments. But I don't like Prodigy anymore,
since Leroy left the band. :-/

In fact, this kind of music (breakbeat/rave) does not
satisfy me anymore. I even closed my Prodigy site two years
ago.

times.

I know what U mean phobes >

I reckon its still classic though, I only seem to listen to
it every few years nowadays ! Its' for the memories I tell
ya', not really the depth or quality of the music. What were
the other kids listening to back then at discos ? Roxette
and Timmy Mallett if I remember rightly... now I don't think
I'll be wanting to hear them again :)

this sounds lame, but MTV actually had a great show covering
the uk rave/dance scene in the early 90's. i think it was
called "party zone" or something like that. they were
broadcasting a lot of goodies - no commercial shit, i tell
you.

now, MTV has lost their soul.

Hehe, Phobiazero: you are starting to show your age. MTV was
always soulless, only you were younger back in the day.
Although, I will admit that the current MTV (the german
version we here can see) is even worse than the early
nineties one. It's unbelievably bad.

Yes,they have lost their way. The rave/hardcore scene has
had a slight resurgence here recently, what with compilations
and documentaries etc.}:>

I remember that show Phobiazero!! Wasn't it on at 10 o'clock
on Saturdays or something?
I was about 8 at the time so I wasn't allowed to stay up to
watch it, only saw it a few times but loved it. Prodigy,
Robin S, SL2, Shamen, ooh it was nice...

I know, I remember that show. I didn't particullary like it
but i did not particullary hate it either. For what it's
worth, most shows today are even more stupid than the old
ones.

Yeah, one of my friends really liked that (technohead) and
kept insisting he'd have played at his 21st. I said that it
would be old by then (we were about 15/16). I don't know if
he still plans to have it played :)

about the last one).

same here man...
prodigy had some good stuff until leroy left. 'fat of the
land' was also quite good, but frankly, I don't intend to
even listen to their new stuff. just not interested.

"party zone" (i think the host was simone) was a good show,
must be around 96 or 97 when MTV started to focus on halfass
boybands and plagiates.
what happened to ricky rachtman and his headbanger's ball
anyway? :-D

You wanna hear something funny? 2 unlimited and Snap (yes,
that snap) played over here about 4-5 years ago. I was like,
wtf, I thought those bands were longtime gone. Some 400-500
losers attended the show and I saw a little report on local
TV. Of course, 2 unlimited were some totally different two
people and likewise Snap I imagine. A show for stupid serbs.

headbangers ball sucked major ass!!! That dead cunt Kurt
Cobain showed up in a dress "well, I've dressed up for a

that shit, the only thing I ever liked about MTV were Beavis

Anita (who was in the original 2 unlimited) now does drum
and bass. Haven't heard it though, a guy on Hotline told me
that, and he lives in Holland. He said the tracks were okay,
nothing special though.

Leroy's already released his debut album about 6 months ago
under the name Flightcrank.

The song I used to really dance to and liked back in the day
was Dee Lite's "groove is in the heart". GOD, that song is
so cheesy now. Although DJ Towa Towa went on to do some
pretty cool stuff.

I remeber those shows! Party zone was not bad but the real
treat was "The chillout zone"!!! That was the first pure
electronica show I ever saw. I have a few hours of tape in
the archive as well from that time, good stuff. 120 minutes
was also essential for the electronicaly enclined. Have a
couple of 1000 minutes of that as well I think. I actually
miss Paul King, he was fun in a geeky kind of way

listened to death metal and grindcore at the time.
