I like rock more than electronic, but rock is pretty much
dead... I like living in the past with the 60's and 70's!

I don't care for industrial.

SOME modern rock is good... for some reason, I CAN'T get
enough of System of a Down. Average guitarist and all that,
nothing special about the music, but I LOVE Serj Tankian! He
makes it sound so much better than their contemporaries.

DISORRRDERR!!! DISORRRDERR! DIS-OOOORRORORRRRRDERRRR!!!

Yes. About 5 years ago I listened to nothing but industrial.
I use the term "industrial" loosely though, because to some
people the only band they consider industrial is Throbbing
Gristle, and to others it includes everything from NIN to
Static X.

Industrial:
I like Coil, Current 93, Einsturzende Neubauten, Sol
Invictus and the stuff from cold meat industries. Death in
June is getting a bit Nazi-ish lately isn't it?

Rock
I like the Doors sometimes

I love the Swans and Big black.

Check 'Yü-Gung' by Einstürzende Neubauten, what a track!
its about the singers expanded ego and cocaine, a razor on a
mirror takes the place of a hi-hat...

the only real industrial group i like (i'm excluding nin
here) is front 242. i used to listen to them a lot more when
i was younger, not much in recent years. RDJ ripped off the
vocal melody of the 242 song "no shuffle" very subtly on one
of the songs in come to daddy, i think bucephalus bouncing
ball for about TWO seconds. it's an homage tho.

jivverdicker how can you call big black industrial? i assume
you mean albini's big black, not some industrial band of the
same name i've never heard of. big black revolutinozed the
grimey guitar sound that albini has brought to so many
albums subsequently, from low to mogwai to the pixies to the
breeders to nin (the fragile had some engineering by him). i
dunno what's industrial about them besides the grimey
sound..

People changed the subject from industrial about half the
way through, Steve Albini had a great sound. That was it
really. I'm sorry Tits I feel like absolute shit now. ;)

oh, figures. sorry. i stopped reading when the frequently
brought up question "is rock music good?/what rock artists
do you like" came up, but i glanced through the rest and saw
you mentioned big black who're never brought up here. do you
have the ep albini proced for mogwai? it's a one song (20
minute) "my father my king", so amazing. he also produced a
studio session for godspeed you black emperor! last october,
i hope they put an album out soon.

with them.

I'd love to hear some new Godspeed too.

why not email them? i've emailed stuart before, he even
lists his address on their site:
stuart@mogwai.co.uk
it forwards to his hotmail address, give it a try. not sure
how it'd sound, what do you think would be the result? email
me that answer if you have to. as i said, i love their remix
of link, maybe more stuff like that would be really
interesting.

i think godspeed hate everyone and might not release another
album. they've always said that they mull over the idea of
just touring and not releasing studio albums or ep's, maybe
they finally decided to do that. or maybe something's coming
out this year, tho it's been reeeeal quiet.

but I love mogwai. I remember listening to the herrod track
in the car one day and it was beautifull!

i played "tracy" (from young team) on my radio show one day
and some guy came into the studio asking me what song i had
played. i had never met him before, he's just some guy
(presumably a student) who heard the song in his car and
stopped everything to come down and ask about it. one of my
proudest moments being a dj last year...

aw shucks. thanks tho, i always appreciate your
encouragement. i do what i can to both play good music and
play good music that people would never have heard without
me. i think there's a good mix. last school year i never
repeated a song between shows. i dunno if i'm going to do
that again this year, but i know for sure that i am going to
play songs i played last year. there're new listeners to
manipulate!
