it is the rose. a taheen is like a crow man thingy. some sort of bird person creature. i think its lame that they think its that. it is so obviously a rose. |

not at all, look at the top of the rose and it looks like a birds head. And its really obvious too, though i do think its a rose, there is definately a resemblance of a birds head there. |

there is a white circle with an eye, then a triangle below (the beak). Once you see it you wont even see the rose. Its doing my head in, every time i look at it now all i can see is a damn bird! |

i wonder how much of book 7 is gonna be the tower itself. we know the mia issue will be resolved in 6. probably wrap up the new work stuff too. vampires? low men confrontation? and what of patrick from insomnia's role (which has me VERY curious)? i hope the tower itself is a good long portion of book 7. thatd be super duper |

lets put it this way, i doubt that king's role in this is anythign other than the architect form matrix. flagg is the one im worried about. and walter.... is he really dead? someone in insomnia has a vision of him. weirdness. whatever the outcome, i think king has something totally exhilerating lined up. |

well, im fairly certain eddie and roland pay king a little visit in dt6.... so he's not at the top of the tower. but the brief publisher's description said the conclusion will make your jaw drop. |

So does anyone have insights on the whole Walter/Marten/Flagg etc. etc connection? It seems to me they are at least extensions of the same being, even if they were all born as different people. At the same time I wouldn't say they are exactly the same person, either. The whole legion idea seems to make sense. Part of me feels King revising Gunslinger to clean things up cheapens the whole thing, and part of me thinks it was a good idea and understands why he did it. I am kind of torn on this issue, heh. I remember things from the original edition, where Walter says that He could not have given Marten the vision he gave Roland, but then I remember King 'fixed' that. It is very frustrating and I wish King would have remained bound to what he originally wrote and made everything conform to that, since it was, after all, already out there and the details had become a part of the way people think about the story. It is like Jake and Roland remembering two different ways that the past happened and going nuts trying to reconcile them. |

I got it yesterday, finished it just now after working all day. I enjoyed it a lot, although it's not perhaps as epic as I'd like. Well, it is, mainly in dialogue and revelations, not plot. But fuck me there are some surprises in this book. I'm so glad the last volume is only a few months away. |

I believe it's the guy who did the illustrations for the original Gunslinger (US edition). He's not bad, although the style of the pics in the new book is fantastic, definitely. |

have a look on the darktower.net website, the illustrations for the last dark tower book are amazing! anyone read the lastest book, what did you think of it? *spoiler* i'm just starting the latest book song of susannah and was just flicking through it (couldnt resist it) and Stephen King himself is in the story which is a bit weird, i hope this is well done as it could cheapen the books if its not. *spoiler* |

Yeah it is weird. Dark Tower is like the Unified Field Theory of sorts of Stephen King books, and the guy who's doing illustrations for the last book also did them for the first book so it's very full circle-ish. King throws in so many sideways obscure references it's hard to keep things straight unless you've read everything he's done and are familiar with a lot of Americana and stuff :) |

that is what i love about him, everything seems to be a coherent .. thing. πανταλαιμο ;ν: i felt so cheated at the end of bk 5, he has to come up with something really really well tought-out thing to save it from mediocrity right now. ive got faith in that but.. well itd be dissapointing because king's my favourite writer and im in love with all the dark tower stuff |
