"For an hour and forty minutes, Aphex Twin plays some of his
own classics, as well as songs by his buddy, Squarepusher
and other IDM artists. "

I'd like to see a setlist or something. Wonder what he
played...

I have been featured on this website put up by the CBC
[kanada's national radio station]
for the past two weeks.
they played me on their radio too.
there is now a bit on all the electronic genre pages that
says 'IF YOU LIKE 'PLAID' YOU'LL LIKE 'KNELL' click here to
listen.
check the insanity here

it's insane.
i don't think i sound anything like them.
maybe they are refering to the ton of layers in the songs,
but the files are only mp3s and don't reflect the whole
stereo feel.
comparisons are always weak.

@ ATP of his own, he played:
Cornish Acid
Acrid Avid Jamshred
Arched Maid Via RDJ
DJ Pierre: Box Energy (AFX remix)
Mt. Saint Michel + Saint Michaels Mount

of Squarepusher it was:
Schizm Track #2 Mix
The Barn (303 Kebab mix)
Dedicated Loop
Go! Spastic
Ceephax Mix
[and i thought there was one more but i can't think of it
right now]

he also played part of Tod Dockstader's Traveling Music in
the beginning and a bunch of what really did seem like
unreleased Sqp stuff. and of course a shit load more but i
don't know what any of that was.

SPD,was RDJ djing or playing live,or maybe both, were you
there?????

offline SPD from United States on 2002-06-04 20:56 [#00249954]

yah, i also like the part where Andy is like "please,
somebody offer us another car commercial. we don't have any
money."

if somebody offered me a car commercial, or any other for
that matter, i'd jump on that shit!

some audio bits???

i was there. he was DJing off the Sony laptop (hard disc
jockey). anytime you're playing somebody elses tracks i'd
say it was a DJ type thing, but the lines are getting more
and more blurry in the live vs. DJ debate these days. no
doubt Rich has been DJing his own stuff from the laptop for
some years now and just calling it "live".

there were a nice bunch of pics up @ Joyrex.com that i took
(which i was quite proud of getting as the security staff
threw all the press folk off the stage right before he went
on). when WAtMM is fully up i'm sure they will be available
again.

we do have a video of most of the show (minus the last 10
min or so) that will eventually get up on WAtMM.

Hmm,yes SPD,in that matter you're right, but when you just do
a show with just your music, old and new,and you add efx,do
extended versions,or just remix them,it doesn't matter if it
comes from your laptop,it's still a live
performance, remember this is electronic music my good
friend......:)

Hey Chapman, where do you have that Aphex set??? Is it from
the ATP show in Cali??? How can I get it man????

offline SPD from United States on 2002-06-04 21:11 [#00249970]

he did do some honest looping and goofy stuff to Sqp's
Schizm Track #2 Mix (which is by far one of my fave Sqps) so
that was really dope.

I printed it out and read it at school, you asked my
question, nice! I indirectly interviewed Plaid ;). I went
to thier tour gig in NYC, it rocked the house.

What role did you play in the interview?
Are you Arturo?

no, Arturo is the editor of the magazine: he lives over in
CA where the interview was done
