the days where i just got into ae, afx, squarepusher and such artists. remember when you discovered them, the feeling you had when you realized they had so much more material to listen to and/or buy?
now, ive got pretty much everything by these artists, but i want more!
oh, the nostalgia! is it just me, or does it seem like they released a lot more stuff like 6 years ago (more quickly, like more than one release per year)?

perhaps u might enter a whole new field of something completely different and get the same impression of that as u did of such artists in the old days...

Cortex: I loved having all the Ae cds ordered and having 'that phone call' every week. "Hi this is HMV, your autechre cd is here". I would jump for joy. You've never seen anyone so giddy. Now... no more Ae :( that I can get that is... I can't get ANY gescom here.

yeah, i know what you mean. for me, it was going to a record shop each week on the way to the university and looking for something new in the ae selection. that time i saw chiastic slide (a 36$ import...), i think i cried of joy ;)

I SERIOUSLY miss my phase where I was discovering the Beatles... that was the best. Followed by Aphex Twin, then Autechre. But particularly The Beatles and Aphex... so much material by them, and they're so dynamic and diverse... oh, it's depressing.
I'm getting into Plaid, Richard Devine and some others right now, but they're not on the same level.

plaid and devine are great, but they dont have as much material as, let's say, ae or afx. it's not quite the same thing.
i also had a beatles phase, and a pink floyd phase.

I'm liking Boards of Canada... I already have everything they released, except Hi Scores, so it's just sitting and waiting for new material now... I'm going to try and keep up with everything they release and get it, so I can own it all!!!

Actually, I think my other big phases were Metallica and Black Sabbath/Ozzy. 0_o Squarepusher is good, but I wouldn't put him up there in the elite phases... probably because I found Autechre at the same time, and, well... Autechre is equal to or greater than God.

my first phase was with U2... I now own all their studio albums, a couple live ones, their greatest hits with the b-sides, and a few singles... then it was radiohead, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Dave Matthews Band (not as crazy though), Steely Dan maybe next, and then Aphex Twin, Autechre, Boards of Canada, etc, etc...
