New Ae Release

I was sorta pissed when I first listened but I think Ae are
practically trying to sound Squarepusher-ish. I mean, yeah
its Ae they rule and everything, but really...it just seems
like it sounds so much like Squarepusher's latest release,
that Untitled track (that rules)...

I think they're all trying to sound the same...take
Drukqs...theres like lotza tracks on the album that sound
very squarepusherish.

I hope this isn't warp forcing them, this Ae release is just
so strange though...they made such melodic music with each
release and now weird chopped processed beats that are quite
similar to Squarepusher.

Just sharing my opinion.

if you're gonna say sean

ex: with all due respect, just because their new release
sounds like anything you've heard before from another artist
doesn't mean they're trying to sound like them.

ontop of that -- nothing in any of that tracks sounds like
anything from squarepusher. what could you possibly..
SAFLSFJksafd. HOW?!?!?!

Ae def. has a sound of their own and I bet they would never
trying to copy someone else work. That would be very
anti-Ae.

I don't see(hear) any similiarity really.

NO WAY does []> and Ae sound alike...I just DO NOT hear it
at all...Im with Phob.....Both equally kick ass, but have
WAY different sounds...IMO...=)

agreed, gantz graf is very different from squarepusher and
also I think that saying drukqs sounds a lot like square
means that ExHore hasn't really been listening to a lot of
drill'n'nbass in his life. Well, it's no sin, of course. I
admit that when I started listening to this IDM shit,
everything sounded the same to me too... But with a little
bit more experience you easily tell different styles/
approaches apart.

BTW: Mira Calix already worked for warp so I think she could
get released even w/o Sean lobbying for her...

Nevertheless []pusher is the daddy now.

offline Meho Krljic from Beograd (Yugoslavia) on 2002-05-30 08:24 [#00242088]

if that means that "Go Plastic" betters "Drukqs", then I
agree.

Phob: see, we're discussing music now, behaving well

offline Steamtank from Melancholia Isle (Poland) on 2002-05-30 08:31 [#00242092]
Points: 1271 Status: Regular

yeah "gp" is definitely better than "drq". i love druqs
drill stuff it is extremly complex and beautifull stuff but
pusher is taking his music further. evolution:"gi
plastic"->untitled track->?

much as I hate to agree with anything anyone says, I must
say I agree with you, steam

ae and [] are the rulers of modern electronica.comparing
goplst with confield- i would choose jenkinsons thing. he is
really making jazz. very modern jazz indeed

ahh, I wouldn't know... to me, jazz is as much culture as
music, so, saying that a white kid from chelmsford does jazz
using laptop and some state of the art software somehow
doesn't sit comfortably... But suit yourself. It's great
music anyway.

yeah maybe you're right I was thinking of a specfic jazz
vibration which is present at pushers music

well, I know what you're talking about. Although it was more
present on Hard Normal Daddy, Music is Rotted One Note
etc....

on "misaron" it is obvious but (for me) it is present at "go
platic" too hidden behind cracks and grates.
