Chimp Systems from Tweak Valley on 2001-07-12 10:53 [#00014416]

Mr Arch: Future Sound of London are ace, it's kind of like
deeeep drifting spacey jazz-electronics, they do huuuge
concept albums with loads of mad piled sounds and beats,
really intricate and detailed. Not really Warp-style, more
like Martian breakbeat/techno/prog-rock stuff. Lifeforms is
a cool LP, as is ISDN, but get hold of the Papua New Guinea
single if you can, it's the best they ever did . . . They
haven't done anything in ages. Perhaps they are dead.

phiz from Amsterdam on 2001-07-12 10:57 [#00014418]

Love-Forever Changes
Shack-Waterpistol
The Beta Band-3eps

AFX new album now when I have all these COOL albums to
peep.

when will DJ shadow release a new album? Entroducing is no
doubt a must have.

Have yall cheked his collabo album UNKLE ITS DOPE!!!

Yall should make a extended list THERES TO MANY GOOD ALBUMS
(I must admit that most of you have EXTREMLY GOOD MUSIC
taste).

Arch Rival from NY on 2001-07-12 11:02 [#00014422]

Global Goon.

Synchronicity on 2001-07-12 11:06 [#00014425]

Arch Rival: Shadow's next album should be out in the next
few months with any luck...probably round the same time as
Drukqs...and yup, i've got his Unkle cd...very nice, Thom
Yorke makes it. Preemtive Strike is awesome as well.

|REFLEX| from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-07-12 11:11 [#00014426]

Also check out Plone and Plaid..... kinda.. somewhat same
style as FSOL

tune*mx on 2001-07-12 11:12 [#00014427]

The new FSOL album is coming soon. Maybe they create the
future music again?

Chimp Systems from Tweak Valley on 2001-07-12 11:17 [#00014432]

REFLEX, what the hell are you on about? Plone and Plaid
sound fuck-all like FSOL. You are nuts.

|REFLEX| from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-07-12 11:25 [#00014434]

CHIMPY: Yes I realize this... well they kinda do, some songs
sound alike to me. I have all their stuff by Plone and
Plaid, and FSOL, I can hear a similarity

Chimp Systems from Tweak Valley on 2001-07-12 11:28 [#00014436]

Yeah, but you think Jungle is a lighter form of Dub. . .

not REFLEX on 2001-07-12 11:36 [#00014438]

ha ha

|REFLEX| from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-07-12 12:01 [#00014440]

Which it is.

|REFLEX| from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-07-12 12:04 [#00014441]

Its really funnny because some of you think its funny to try
and insult me or my opinions or what im saying. Sure, fine
go for it, I don't care. There are many more reasonable nice
people in here that are level headed. Its foolish, and
stupid.

dirty little bitch on 2001-07-12 12:07 [#00014442]

REFLEX - how stupid are you? dub is electronic reggae and
has nothing to do with jungle.
i suggest you stop making your self look silly in front of
an international audience.

Bn1 on 2001-07-12 12:08 [#00014443]

Underworld - Dubnobasswithmyheadman
Amon Tobin - Supermodified
Fila Brazillia - Mess
Air - Moon Safari
Plastikman - Sheet One

And of course aphex twins stuff.

Chimp Systems from Tweak Valley on 2001-07-12 12:14 [#00014444]

Fuck me REFLEX... I'm not having a go at you, but you are
wrong-o-matic. There's nothing wrong with having opinions on
music, but at least try and have a clue what you are on
about before you open your gob. Dub is a form of reggae
music invented by King Tubby in Jamaica in the late 60s,
which involved taking existing reggae tunes, stripping them
down to the bone and then applying spectral effects as parts
of the tune fade in and out of the mix. Jungle was invented
in England in the early 90s and came out of the Hardcore
scene. It is a mixture of rolling sub-bass and complex drum
programming, and usually clocks in at about 160-170 bpm. So
as you can see, slightly different.

frank from uganda on 2001-07-12 12:18 [#00014446]

phobiazero must be gutted that most of the people who visit
this excellent aphex fan site champion such mediochre
music... come on kids, leave the average stuff alone
altogether... believe it or not there's a world of music out
there - get pracicing

bogdan raczynski: any album
digital underground: sex packets

demz doe real doop rye dare

dirty little bitch on 2001-07-12 12:21 [#00014452]

frank - there is no need to come on here and put down
everyone else's entries.
your selection contains some brilliant works but if you
think it is a better selection than everyone else's, i think
you should keep it to yourself.

Chimp Systems from Tweak Valley on 2001-07-12 12:23 [#00014453]

Plus, you're hardly diggin' in the crates yourself are you?

dirty little bitch on 2001-07-12 12:24 [#00014454]

i was gonna say that as well chimp.
i was also gonna call 'im a dingo fucker or something, but
that's deeply frowned apon 'round these parts.

Chimp Systems from Tweak Valley on 2001-07-12 12:40 [#00014460]

Dingo fucking is a popular and widely accepted pastime where
I live. Of a Saturday all the family piles in the car and
heads down to Mad Doug's Discount Dingo-Dicking Hyperstore
for a wholesome afternoon of man/beast interfacing. And for
the toddlers; ducks! Sorry, I'll stop now . . . I am quite
disgusted with myself . . .

dre on 2001-07-12 13:04 [#00014467]

photek - modus operandi
autechre - amber
speedjack - surge

H3XAN3 [C6H14] from Melb. on 2001-07-12 14:43 [#00014494]

2) Massive Attack - Mezzanine
3) Aphex Twin - RDJ album
4) Portishead - Dummy
5) Radiohead - Ok Computer

nothin too left-field there, but that's just me. so peeps,
stop slagging others over there tastes - its quite a
personal thing, someone's top 5 ya know....

Chimp Systems from Tweak Valley on 2001-07-12 15:00 [#00014502]

Bah.. I was only slating that Frank bcuz he came on all 'I'm
Mr Obscure and you lot are dumb fucking sheep', and I slated
REFLEX cuz he is clueless and childish. But I'd never slag
someone's top 5. That'd be like taking a shit in their hat.
And I'm normally quite placid.

Chimp Systems from Tweak Valley on 2001-07-12 15:51 [#00014537]

I dunno. I'd love to know how he got from A to B on that
one... all I can think is that there was a mix up in his
head between d'n'b and dub. I reckon that must be it.

Chimp Systems from Tweak Valley on 2001-07-12 15:52 [#00014538]

Sorry, that last post was for Dingle Berry, and it wasn't a
rude and slightly abstract diss of the previous top 5 list .
. .

rubbish john on 2001-07-12 15:57 [#00014543]

even if our clueless Reflex did get dub and d'n'b mixed up -
how does this explain jungle being 'lighter'

??????

dingle berry from on a small plastic chair breathing fire on 2001-07-12 16:05 [#00014551]

bring on the thundering darkness thats what i say!

frank from kenya on 2001-07-12 16:15 [#00014555]

Im sincerely glad you enjoy music as much as you do -
whatever it is

good on you

my opinion is there is a lot of very easily accessible
excellent music that you shouldn not be diverted from and
should not championed if it is diluted or copied

we all learn more about music every day and if you cant
enjoy something, maybe your missing out. on the other hand,
maybe youre creaming the best of life to the full.

i agree with everything everyone said above btw ha ha

you ought to check those ones i mentioned though coz they
are all wicked
they were the first ones that popped into my head which was
dependant upon my mood at the timeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

there but they are my (some of my) 5 fave CD's. I could
easily do a few top 5. It's hard, but thats what I came up
with :)
