ww_sketcher from Ottawa, Canada on 2001-07-12 22:05 [#00014645]

Beatles - 1
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
Nirvana - Nevermind
Queen - A Night at the Opera
The Sex Pistols - Never Mind the Bollocks were the Sex
Pistols

...yeah...not electronica albums, above. Sorry...There are
some excellent ones, but they just can't make it into a top
5 for me.

Sarah on 2001-07-12 22:14 [#00014647]

|REFLEX| from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-07-12 22:42 [#00014650]

Goddamnitm shutup already. If I were to go back and take
things that people have said and twist them around then I
could be calling you clueless, stupid, nieven and ignorant
all in one. But I don't because.

1. I don't care enough at all.
2. Its a waste of time.
3. Everyone seems to be on some bandwagon.
4. You don't really know these people in real life.
5. Real life is nothing when compared, or related to a
messageboard.
6. Judgements are easy to make, especially when your typing
it across the internet.

Its stupid, why would you even bother, oh lets get our snide
comments in now! Especially since he said something again!
Lets get at it and be jerks!!! Yeah!

Super Magnetic Neo from Australia on 2001-07-13 11:49 [#00014830]

I love Boom Boom Satellites.

My fave songs are Oneness and Push Eject.

Naphex-Male from Vancouver, Canada on 2001-07-13 22:50 [#00015008]

[REFLEX]: Yo dude thanx...The first Nirvana album I listened
to was Nevermind obviously. Then I heard Bleach! I was blown
away by the sheer punk-thrashiness of "Paper Cuts" &
"Negative Creep"!!!! I was 13 and too far into hiphop to
know about this album upon its release in 1989...I came
across it in 1992 on a camping trip when a buddy put on the
cd on his car stereo. Soon after I bought it on green-marble
coloured vinyl and was astonished to hear how much better it
sounded in its purest form, VINYL RULES!!!!

***Does anyone in this message board listen to a canadian
band called "Kittens"? They are a raw thrash/punk
band....I like the albums "Tiger Comet" and "Bazooka and The
Hustler"

Anyone have any Vinyl stories of their very own to share?
haha!

Later sk8tr!

|REFLEX| from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-07-13 23:05 [#00015012]

Naphex-Male: no, but i do own a bought copy of one of the
rarest nirvana singles ever. it was a split single with a
band called "the jesus lizard" and it just has two songs on
it, 1 by each band. There were 5000 copies made around the
world, and I seem to have a copy! Its amazing, its in
perfect condition too. Im glad I have it, i was in some
local used cds shop for punk/metal/industrial/grunge and
shit and i saw it, and i was like is this a bootlegg??
{cause there are like 3 shops here that seem to get away
with selling illegaly taped concerts and stuff} the guy was
like "no!" then he told me about it, so I bought it up ASAP!
Im glad.

Naphex-Male from Vancouver, Canada on 2001-07-13 23:12 [#00015021]

Excellent! I've seen tons of Nirvana bootlegs.....most of
them have shitty sound.....but I heard one a while ago that
was pretty good quality....a friend of mine recorded it in
Seattle in the early 90's.....wish I could get a copy of it
today, but I hardly ever speak to the dude
anymore.....boohoo

|REFLEX| from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-07-13 23:20 [#00015023]

Yes, I have about 22 bootlegged shows from them some are in
excellent quality!

ross on 2001-07-14 02:39 [#00015038]

thanksomuch: nice albums there...
i love the pixies (and kim deal is quite rad) so i bought
the breeders cd, and while some of the melodies got into my
mind (invisible man, that keyboard part!) i took it back
because it just seemed empty to me..cannonball is always a
classic though..

João Evangelista from Portugal on 2001-07-14 05:42 [#00015043]

In no particular order...

Can - Tago Mago

(The only album of theirs I have. I'm sure the others are
amazing too)

Radiohead - OK Computer

(I have all of them but this one brings back more memories
coz the other two best ones are new. I love OKC, Kid A and
Amnesiac)

DJ Shadow - Endtroducing...

Godspeed You Black Emperor! - Lift yr. Skinny fists like
antennas to heaven

Aphex Twin - I Care Because You Do...

These choices took me fucking ages and if it ever came down
to it I might have to alter a few for a very accurate
decision. That is all.

Scary Bear on 2001-07-15 16:08 [#00015219]

By the way the reason why everybody has to scroll a lot to
read all the messages is because Fred kindly typed the 204
letter word "time (plus 200 e's)"!!!

@ aphex twin - any album

PostModernVancouver from Vancouver,Canada on 2001-07-15 16:33 [#00015224]

Hmmm, must be the erm elitist in me, but after I heard
electronic music ( this has been 20 years now, some years
more then the other), I always found that it sounded so
ahead of time and made the more common musics well sound so
pre-historic, (not that I havent listened to rock oriented
music over the years), but I always came back to the
electronic stuff.
In the 80's it was everything from Kraftwerk, New Order,
Cabaret Voltaire,
Depeche Mode, Gary Numan, Tangerine Dream, Severed Heads
etc...
Even then after listening to that stuff I even found punk
music so juvenile and erm soo average ( sorry, I know it all
sounds snobby). The only stuff I did like in the 80s ( always
David Bowie) was gothie stuff such as Bauhaus, The Cure ,
Sex Gang Children, Sisters Of Mercy ( cause they all had a
deep, cool and dark voice range and their guitars had such a
mature and eerie sound to em..
The 90's were at first the Nirvana years for most I guess,
but then I discovered The Orb way back in the early 90's,
Orbital etc... and again to me it made everything else sound
so dated and so from this planet ( a horrible thought to me)
and the whole so-called Alternative generation was born with
the Lollapalooza festivals ( which I guess had better stuff
on there then most festivals, even though I never went)..
Future Sound Of London came along, Autechre and ofcourse
Aphex.
And that was it, after listening to Aphex who still is
musics most advanced composer today I really couldnt listen
to anything really guitarbased because nothing could compare
to him. ( sorry, but Pink Floyd whom to me are just sort of
trippy music for the mainstream masses thinking its all cool
and all that and wish they could do what Aphex has done over
the years).
Aphex to me makes the Beatles sound like amateurs , sorry I
prefer Stockhausen and Joe Meek any day of the week.
And the only one who truly is the most prolific rock/art
musician is David Bowie, bar none, even in his 50's he's
better then the so-called Alternative crap out there. far
more diverse, far more allseeing, far more intelligent, far
more interesting.
His career as an allround so called rock artist still
remains unchallenged today,as it has been over 30 years now
and is by far the most important musician of the last 30
years, simply because he's done everything and then some.
His 1995 album OUTSIDE blows most of these 90's so called
alternative acts out of the water.
Want real alternative music besides the electronic stuff and
something thats really original??
Try Scott Walkers TILT or any Diamanda Galas ( Shrei X)and
you'll see what I mean, cause they make bands such as Helmet
, Tool or any of those bands look like generic Backstreet
Boys type of bands. Trust me. ( No offense intended)..

I go for variety:
