You no what those smelly cunts said?
They said you could compare their music with deftones,
pantera and APHEX TWIN!!!!!

That's the biggest bullshit I've ever heard. Let's nail
those screaming bitches to the cross!~!
BLOODY CUNTS!

I don't see the similarity...namely aphex makes good music
(mostly!)

Things like that make me angry. It's like they abuse Aphex
twin. Is their anything, ANYTHING!!!!! linkin park has that
you can compare with AAAANNNYYYTHING of richard's work?
guess
NOT!

i'm not bashing/trolling/whatever.

i haven't kept up with the force-fed music scene (that is,
mtv and the like)...so do they have any material other than
what's on 'hybrid theory' and their singles?

offline Nexus 6 from Netherlands, The on 2002-05-22 18:01 [#00230137]

no
It's one big screaming for attention music. Bad nu-metal.

NO. . . . THEY JUST SAID, that in their cd collections, you
could find anything from Pantera to Deftones to Aphex Twin.
They certainly did not compare themselves to Richard
himself, nor the other two artists. . . and besides, Linkin
Park aren't THAT bad, I've got their cd, and I paid for it,
unburnt, too! *blushes*

good. well at least they wouldn't compare themselves to the
deftones or aphex.

the more i think about it, i suppose, linkin park are quite
unique due to the fact that they are non explicit. they've
got their own sound, too.

I was watching MTV the other day and this vj that presents
rock zone said that LP had compared themselves with
deftones, pantera and aphex twin in an interview they had
the other day.
Maybe that vj is a lying soab, it's just simpley what I've
heard!

ceiling_fan I can tell you dude, right now there are over a
1000 bands of screaming children sounding almost exactly
like linkin park.

well, most of the stuff that IS released, is pretentious
crap. i know, i can't follow my own reasonings, too, most of
the time, you'll have to forgive me

are you talking about most of ALL music released, or just
LINKIN PARK ?

offline Netlon Sentinel from eDe (Netherlands, The) on 2002-05-22 18:38 [#00230202]
Points: 4736 Status: Lurker

well, most music i know released today. honestly, i only
know the singles by linkin park. my brother saw them live
and he enjoyed it.

also, it doesn't have too be a bad thing: the last mercury
rev album was pretty pretentious overproduced as it is with
all those violins. but it's a great album, once you get into
it.

Everything I've ever heard is pretentious, except some
Boards of Canada and some Beatles, they both have some
tracks that just sound so ''honest'' or
something.................. What the fuck am I talking
about?!?!

offline marlowe from Antarctica on 2002-05-22 19:19 [#00230238]
Points: 24578 Status: Lurker

ok, so you are narrowing it down now to "most music i know
released today" -- better than "well, musicians are supposed
to be pretentious, you know"

---ophecks, your listening must be SEVERELY limited if you
just think "some boards of canada and some beatles" are
non-pretentious

Twin. There was no comparing going on.

Good thinking..the only thing I like about Linkin Park is
how they interact with their audience they dont just sing
the whole song and in their own world...even though most
bands are like that its still a good thing.

=)

I dont like Linkin Park, their music is pretty pointless.
But if they bad mouth Aphex, off with their heads!

I don't know about ''severely limited''... I don't know what
the fuck I'm talking about, though...

Example: And I quote: ''What the fuck am I talking
about?!?! ''

They're just the only two artists/bands that I've heard that
give ME the sense that they're totally honest, not trying to
impress anybody but themselves... of course this is TOTALLY
my opinion, it's just the effect they have on me.
Everyone/everything else seems like they're doing something
for a reason, doing this or that for that particular person
or group... I don't know.

The only two artists I can think of that I REALLLLY like
that give me this certain feeling is the Beatles and BOC
(and even with them, it's only a small, special part of
their work). I know I'm insane!!!!

Nu Metal has saturated the market. It's just a bunch of
record label prepackaged candy bar music for frat boy "tits
and beer boys" and mallrat kids who want to be pissed.

HYbrid Theory was the best selling album in the US last
year.

It had no radio play and no publicity until it went
platanum.

i hate when crappy bands say theyre influenced by so and so.
if they were influenced by them they wouldnt be crappy.

?? hybrid theory was played before the cd came out. radio
stations played it way before it went platinum. One step
closer was played way before it went platinum too and
crawling was even too possibly.

agreed. maybe just the stations 01 listened to didn't play
it. WHFS, 98Rock, and DC101 where i lived played "one step
closer" and "crawlin'" a whole lot.

"crawlin'" sounds influenced by SAW 85-92 to me. "one step
closer" sounds influenced by nin.
