I just uninstalled Kazaa and Morpheus. Question... does the
Spyware uninstall with it, or do I have to get a seperate
program to get rid of THAT shit, too? And what's the best
program to do that, and where can I get it...

Free pizza for whoever helps me out!

I downloaded the latest Ad Aware yesterday and found 104 new
ones , previously undetected.
And several anoying Explorer errors dissapeard.(before it
used to freeze up when more then two windows open)
Spyware should be illegal imo.

Thanks for the help, I just downloaded Ad Ware 5.8 from
Download.com, 95% rating, can't be bad.

Time to scan my system for sneaky little spy bastards!

I think that Ad-aware is one of the best progs to find out
what the heck is going on inside the computer.
But, of course, you must have a firewall, whithout that you
are a looser out here...

It says ''102 Components recognized''... hmm... and one of
them is the god damned Bonzi Buddy! I'm going to delete him
and send him straight to hell!

I've heard that Kazaa won't function without the spyware,
but I've never actually used it. I guess you'll find out...

I uninstalled Kazaa anyway, IWhale. I don't use that piece
of shit anyway, same with Morpheus.

Alright, I got lots of files like ''Brilliant Digital'',
''Twisted Humor (?)'', ''Cydoor'', ''Doubleclick'',
''Flyswat'', ''Transponder'', ''Onflow'', and lots of...
er... Sextrackers...

Do I get rid of all these? What are they?

Brilliant Digital is the thing that comes hidden with Kazaa.

Here's my humble suggestion:

1. Uninstall Kazaa and Morpheus

2. As mentioned previously download Ad-aware and run that
puppy.

3. Install kazaalite - kazaa sans spyware
http://www.kazaalite.com

ost of that you say here is onlu cookies. Some other are
written in the registry.
You could see what Ad-aware found in the registry, another
icon.
Just get ride of it.
Have tryid this prog for al long time, never, say never, get
anything wrong.
So, sweep it away!

thethird : yeah right, kazaalite isn't 100% spyware free. i
just fucked out gator, which was installed with kazaalite.

sadist,

In the Kazaalite README they say that that file installed
but disabled because Kazaa won't work without it. Could be
a lie, who knows?

Spyware reports your info to another source, what websites
you visit, what your usernames and passwords are, VERY bad,
spyware is very hard to root out even for the highest
professionals, I tried Kazaa Lite and I havent found any
problems with it yet.

if you get ad-aware, you'll no which progs to avoid and
which once to stick to.

you can also download dummy files for the p2p progs that
need spyware to run.

offline Duble0Syx from Columbus, OH (United States) on 2002-05-18 05:56 [#00224448]

Spyware is software that tells one or multiple company your
internet activities and personal information. As was said
earlier in this topic, Kazaa and Morpheus are both spyware
along with everything Gator makes...

but, whats the purpose? can they hack our computors? does
the government moniter stuff too?

I don't know what the hell it does, or what it spies on...
it's the computer memory stealing issue that made me get rid
of them.

The only thing to spy on with my computer is lots of MP3s
and porn! I don't care if the spies know what I listen to
and jerk off to.

offline Duble0Syx from Columbus, OH (United States) on 2002-05-18 06:04 [#00224455]

It's mainly just free market research, and also is used to
choose what pop-up ads your computer gets, though it could
be used to hack I imagine...

is still working so I guess I really stuck it to the man! I
dont suppose any of you care about my triumph but ahwell

...one thing you all can do is get Zone Alarm and build a
firewall on your system, no one can get into it after that.
(unless you authorize them to do so.) the only thing is that
i dunno if shite such as Kazaa or Morpheus will run if you
don´t authorize them completely.....oh well...
