There's an email circulating at the moment about inuendos in
the script of "rainbow" a 70s kids TV show.

a year ago or so somebody "discovered" that a famous swedish
cartoon (bamse the worlds strongest bear) had some drug
innuendo..

one of the main characters drank magic potions called
Enioreh and Enihprom by a magician called Rehsup.. or
something like that. the cartoon was released in 1988 and I
think it actually was anti-drug, but there was a lot of
noise about it.

hmm this is arguable, but that cartoon "scooby doo"
seemingly hints at weed usage. i mean, come on....shaggy and
scooby are always paranoid and seeing things, shaggy has the
appearance of a full stoner, and scooby goes nuts whenever
he';s given his munchies dosage. and that van....i bet
compression sessions are oft held in it. even the common
term "scooby" (like spliffs jays doobies etc) must be more
than coincidental...

There was a late night channel 4 show that actually played
the clip the e-mail is on about. Can't remember the show but
I'm sure Chris Morris was involved somewhere.

The show was TV Offal. Chris Morris wasn't involved; the
show was actually by Victor Lewis-Smith, who takes every
opportunity to publicly criticise Morris (see
here).

Lewis-Smith introduced it as "the unscreened pilot" for
Rainbow, when it was in fact made by the Rainbow team as an
in-joke; there was no clever re-editing on VLS's part
involved.

Geoffrey: "The VT department of each ITV company, every
Christmas had a competition to enter all the outtakes from
their particular companies programme out put, and see which
ones were the funniest. But ours wasn’t an outtake, we
specially did it. It was specially scripted and we did it
and I never saw it! We did it and Thames won it, but what
they actually won, I don’t know. But I never saw the
video. I can’t remember much about it except for Zippy
with a banana."

Who is Victor-Lewis Smith? He seems like a bit of a dick.

Thank you very much for that information. I wish they'd
repeat it.

victor lewis-smith has a thing in private eye each issue,
Funny Old World or something, where they have humourous
newspaper reports from around the world... he had a radio
show too once, which was funny ----

Going to have to get Private Eye now. Anyone know if you can
get TV Offal on tape?
