"Don't stand... Don't stand so... Don't stand so close to me!!!! Don't stand... Don't stand so... Don't stand so close to me!!!!"
For any Police fans here, have you ever really payed close attention to Stings bass playing? I think it's fantastic personally... like on Every Breath You Take, the bass makes the song for me... simple, but very effective playing it is...

yeah his bass playing was pretty cool but Andy Summers haunting guitars and Stewart Copeland amazing syncopated rhythms were an equally essentail ingredient..without them..you have well..Sting..most of whose last decade's worth of stuff..sucks crap through a straw..

The bassline from Walking on the moon is class. They had some great pop songs. I just wish Sting would now fuck off and die.

"Mother" off Synchronicity is the worst song ever recorded.
It breaks the album even more then Ventolin does.

Police was always sort of calculated and cynical, Sting knew what he was doing, taking bits from punk, reggae, and "new wave" style... but was a decent pop songwriter. Sting was talented, but his ego went way, way, way out of control, ate him up...his solo stuff is unlistenable IMO... at least his acting career dies
at first i thought Sting was lame in Dune, but then i realized that was prob exactly what Lynch wanted, a way too cool looking/acting arrogant person with absolutely no substance or sincerity = Sting
