there is a weird thing that happens in [spAAAAce] to astronuts; something about the right eye and blah blah even NASA can't figure out. and this is a serious problem and shit for going outside of earf; even travelling to other planets. once i asked my father: am i nearsighted because my genes evolved so i'd function better without seeing it all? and he took my idea very seriously. thot. for a while. enough to know he's not just shooting me down. and he came back with: no, you just grew up with good nutrition and nature didn't expect you to be so tall. and i've taken a physics class involving biomechanics and you can't scale an ant up to sci-fi levels because it would collapse under its own weight, if an ant were as tall as a skyscraper. also physics wouldn't allow it to resperate at that scale with the same design, and... that sort of shit, i kind of accepted his answer, but i also wasn't happy with it, and i could tell, neither was he. and now, my answer is: it's the right eye because that's the typical direction of blood flow in your average human, unless you have that weird rare genetic condition causing all your internal organs to be reversed in a chiral way. i actually understand how to design a meditative yoga routine to counteract this in space, now that i see it this way. even dad would have loved this answer, when his best satisfied neither of us. but he's dead and no one listens to me |
