i mean. reading old yeller to your kid. what i missed was, like, physical education. someone really needs to teach you how to concentrate to use these muscles. i still do all sorts of wrong shit with my core muscles i'm trying to fix because "sit up straight" is, like, a skill? reps. we will see eye to eye on reps. reading old yeller to your kid is like doing reps for your speaking voice, which is also your inner voice, and you're also doing reading reps and maybe the kid is still young enough he'll fondly remember how it feels as your powerful voice resonates into his thighs and this becomes part of his inner voice. but old yeller also teaches you the value of dogs, and this is like... you need a certain amount of xyz. old yeller is the first stepping stone in understanding dogs. the great brain series adds some gems like "you know your dog's alarm bark" like, the dog barks differently when there's an intruder. the dog uses different... dog words, i suppose. old yeller, the bastard, clever enough to steal the meat travis brought home. but that's the dog proving its worth. so you're stretching your speaking voice, your inner voice, and you're collecting these things. you have many already, but some were missed, some will be new. and you need, i dunno, really like 200 of them at least. it's a lot and it will take a year but that's actually about enough and now you can be a "citizen" and if you feel so inclined to return the favor let's talk about reps and what are you doing to get those guns |

i felt reasonably sure by my late teens, and now i am certain: if you have downs syndrome, that's a very particular thing. but if you don't have anything like that and you think of yourself as "well i'm not very smart" you're wrong. it's kind of like how no one ever taught me how to use some of my core muscles right and now i'm almost 40 and i'm still figuring this shit out. i'm probably missing plenty else still being smart is a muscle, unless you're genuinely retarded. |
