are we all having some web problems? [cereal killer voice] i think so! for, actually, it's coming up on ten years, i have dreamed of a web browser. that is like emacs. in all the good ways and the bad. to be fair, all the other web browsers can be vi. you can be militant about which but you have to pick one or the other i'm afraid. this is always how everyone has tried to sort me out. doesn't feel great, does it? let's add some context. my parents were briefly incredibly proud when i immediately took to the concept of a screwdriver at, i dunno, 3 or 4. this followed a standard arc in some ways: it stopped being amusing around the time i took apart a lamp -- mains voltage; etc. and all the screwdrivers disappeared. let's add more context: i found them. they were re-hidden, they were re-found. they were locked, and i still managed to get them somehow. and then, finally, a new context was presented for me to disasemble: here are your own tools! and they're plastic fake tools. and i shit you not, i was so young i did not understand this was a trick. i really was stoked, like -- finally, people! why are you slowing me down? but the tools are plastic PFAS fantastic and the plastic screwdriver... i try it all over the house, it doesn't fit. anything. the screwdriver is discarded on the spot like a banana peel in the hallway. because plastic pliers, well, they're still... plier...y.. and i think i'm going to take apart the water line on the toilet now to express myself because at that point i'd figured out they weren't real tools. at this point [i shit you not] i also realized that santa was probably bullshit too, and, well... tangenting, here i want a web browser that is like emacs. in all the good ways and the bad. all code. it will be a nightmare to modify, but if you are like me, you can sort it out. e-lisp is horrifying i cannot manage it at all. unless i need something to work and then it does the job quit bitching not like you fuckers do shit |
