the octopus. the hive mind. the crown is the big boss, and the tentacles are minions. literal minds of their own, but they need instructions from the big boss. we wear our thots on our skin and when we're enraged, everyone sees it loud and clear -- because it's hard to talk underwater.
the octopus is also sort of you slid the evolutionary fader all the way from male ants being no more than flying sperm, who will literally be murdered and thrown out of the hive once that's been taken care of. that the female octopus is a sad thing who lives only to be impregnated, give birth, and then die. neither of these seem like good solutions; nevermind
octopi are not social creatures. they will sit in their corners and then literally just kind of throw rocks at each other and squirt jets. they will juggle other living creatures in an aquarium because they are bored, and because they are actually fucking jerks, i suspect. that i think they are actually incredibly hateful creatures. we could re-do the sopranos with tony soprano as an octopus
in any case, i posit that elliot rodger was an octopus. what do you ladies and/or gentlemen have to say of this?

the incel octopus consciousness, in addition to projectiles that still work underwater, appreciates incredibly expensive scented candles. because, in addition to it being hard to speak underwater, it's hard not to smell things when you all live in the same pool, and money represents a human's life force, their anti-entropy, and so you need a very expensive scent to establish some fucking boundaries and that candle cost $300 and i'm calling the police and going on a shooting spree in my bmw

i guess it's more a point like.... an ant colony is a hive mind, an octopus is a hive mind. male ants are flying sperm. a female octopus lives merely to create another elliot rodger
it's a deep point about gender and evolution and information and i'm thrilled it glues into such a white-hot obnoxious subject like this. beyond pleased

i guess the opposite fader end of the incel timeline is the ant queen timeline; it's the black mirror episode "20 million merits" or however many units it was for the chance to get stuck in a waiting room and maybe eventually be torn apart in front of the whole universe by simon cowell. and here the male energy, bing, is captured and redirected back into the stability of the system. what the episode did not cover was when bing's ratings tanked and he was murdered and thrown out of the hive. if you would like to learn more, move to china

have you read Children of Time and Children of Ruin, because you're mentioning the two main species from those SF-novels: ants, or rather Portia, because ants also play a significant role; and Octopi
Octopi are very impulsive. the novel explains them to be just id. that is: their crown, their reach just do calculating kind of stuff. not sure that makes them psychos, though i guess they aren't that far of from it
now mild spoilers in the Children of Time, in Portia society male liberation is fought, eventually (eventually, because these animals are artificially accelerated in their evolution and then their society evolves over still many generations). in Children of Ruin no such thing happens with Octopi behaviour. maybe because the Octopi are biologically limited. in Portia males are half the size of females, but their not less intelligent. so the key differences between male and female Portia boil down to prejudices that can be fought

indeed male Portia are seen as just sacks of sperms, but if you want to look at it like that, the females are then just sacks of eggs (they don't gestate)

lots of books actually show up because people will listen to me ramble for ten minutes and then eventually books like "Musicology" by Oliver Sacks shows up and goddamn this is going to be full of new ideas. i cannot fucking touch this it could distract me for weeks.
people are on about ants all over. the late john walker recommended "the hacker and the ants," which i still have not read.
so i will probably not get to it, but i know of it now, and you've said enough for me to arguably address your point regardless --
i was more talking about the role of gender as a functional thing in the context of the evolution of intelligence, that in fact this is what i believe gender actually is. that it is sort of like the words "yes" and "no" which really mean nothing without each other to provide an opposite.
here, female is the collectivist, male is the individual, and these terms are both meaningless without the other as a contrast. octopusses are extreme individualists at the expensive of collective cooperation -- to the point where the individual has become a collective. and at that point evolution got stuck because it hit a dead end.
human society needs the male to do insane things like decide, "maybe they're full of shit when they say i'll fall off the edge of the earth if i sail a boat over there" and columbus discovers america. aphex twin hides inside an old computer rack and his wife pretends she doesn't know exactly where the fuck he is.
if you let things go too far that way, though, it goes elon musk incel technocratic, the difference between an incel an elon musk is measured only by degree of success. and then men go off the deep end building tony stark weapons blowing each other up and
but if we let the women run rampant it would be "you're not allowed to synthesizer, that does nothing for the welfare of the children" and at that point i'm afraid i'd have to cut a bitch

someone wrote here in 2020
They are truly alien! Neurones in their tentacles, a brain that is linked to the stomach in the head, three hearts... camouflage genius who can even change skin texture... I love them to bits!
and i totally understand this attitude and i used to make this mistake a lot more often.
however, you need to think of the futurama episode about nature and the life cycle of the salmon and the mating practices of the noble walrus or elephant seal or whatever it was
on NPR's "wait wait don't tell me" they're on about some chinese hotel having a schtick where you sign a waiver and then you can spend the night with a live tiger in your hotel room. one of them quips, "...but tigers will kill you if you turn your back on them, so it's important to be the big spoon" and then another one of the talking heads gets all wistful, like "awww, now i want to snuggle with a tiger"
and it is an adorable thought. but the tiger would slice you up and find you delicious, even if you are the big spoon.
and i maintain that, while, yes -- octopi are bizarre and alien and fascinating -- they are also, at their core, incredibly hateful creatures. and elliot rodgers was an octopus

i guess, gender is a construct, but it is a higher order construct than human society.
i need to be more technical. i mean this sort of like OOP inheritance in progamming. class human inherits from class mammal. human society inherits from class human. the need for a duvet is a social construct, but gender has level upon level of distinct characteristics that go down to the hardware. in humans.
once you expand to the who animal kingdom, then any living thing -- at that point, we're a few levels above where gender got constructed in the human sense. but it's still built into the hardware and gender itself is not a social construct. there are, like, chromosomes, you know?
that even when you get into "girls pink, boys blue" this is also likely inherited on some level, think of the electromagnetic spectrum
then the ancient greeks did not have a word for blue and, alright, the construct is that we call it blue, not that we are more apt to dress boys on a certain end of the spectrum than girls
but everyone starts off as a girl, the boy features develop later if you have the Y chromosome, makes sense it wouldn't stick sometimes and you have more MTF than FTM and more gay people than lesbian people
i do however feel like a lot of hot air is wasted on arguing over it all and i'm very "let people do what they want, so long as what they want isn't building a nuclear reactor in the garden shed"

that, oh, i suppose - you start from a platform from us operating as essentially an ant society, but then mammals have this individual/social balance going on atop this, mediated by -- we should cleave this from gender -- jung's animus and anima, the male and female components of your personality. when someone says, "get in touch with your feminine side," this is as literal as a metaphor can be, asking you to process a thought along a completely different series of decision chains using your quantum computer made of meat. to entirely redo reality for a moment; see things from the eyes of someone else.
transgender? first you have to see gender as a construct to even conceive of it. and i agree it is -- but it's a higher order construct, that goes not just above humans, but to mammals. that maybe we could start to cleave it around marsupials but perhaps the true divide is any species that can spontaneously give birth in an aquarium without a proper fuck, and humans unarguably cannot do this. and from there you can see Christianity as the confusion resulting from a system thousands of years before we understood genetics
but with transgender, we're saying: fuck the hardware, the software is correct. and i am going to take this incredibly complex series of hormones [which, despite my insane grasp of anything detailed, i profess i cannot begin to fathom] and get surgery that was probably not possible even 50 years ago and you people are having a tough time because you've made quite a few dramatic leaps, that only humans could make
that being said, should we suppose god exists, i've always been totally satisfied with what (s)he gave me

i'm realizing this is a generalization of a conversation about the matrix. the brother directors going trans and, "actually the whole film is a trans metaphor"
and i'm like... whoa, whoa. i can see it. this does fit perfectly. but i got similar things out of the movie without being trans, and by going around declaring it a trans film; declaring ownership, you're creating a barrier. that stops people from interpreting the film in a way that expands their mind personally, now you're sitting through the film and thinking about transgender instead? no. that's almost an energy vampire tip
but it is, like: i can see it. i totally see what you mean. you're not crazy for arguing this at all. and i'm entirely happy to agree with you, just please leave the movie vague for the benefit of others.
and it's this again: gender is absolutely a construct, but it's a construct that goes above humans; above mammals. so i argue it is with the matrix: it goes above being trans, that is one possible interpretation of many. your personal interpretation
that the director brothers go trans and so they apply their specific result to the general idea of the journey and conclude, perhaps, that they meant this to be a trans film all along. but it was about the journey, or some shit. and maybe they aren't even talking this up at all and it's just internet people saying it's a trans film. and please let it go

slate star codex
oh, you. i hadn't heard of it then, either. and i thought it sounded like an anime name then, too.
what i can grab from this, in catching it, is that i got hung up on the word codex and i feel a strange tingle but that was ~200ms tangent as i am already typing up a reply. from there i'd say, i simply concluded the same thing. that it sounds like anime. and because i got hung up on codex that must be what clinches the "anime" angle, really, despite an opening like "slate star" having its own slew of signals
i mean, i've also written up the matrix thing before. but i do believe, this time we should be a little clearer about it. more detail and less ramble. i typically never bother to look up the answer now and this time will be no exception
