Mutable Instruments Classics Series by ALA – My Design...

instead of posting to xlt, you could have designed a
collection of modulars

anyone who buys modular or even hardware gear these days is
a fucking mug with too much money, and they usually do jack
shit with it anyway

i can spend £200 on a laptop from argos and not even used
kracked software and still do literally 100x whatever these
stupid fucking modular things do

come at me, i bet you won't because you know it's true

using which software? there are things you can do and things
you can't

there is no way anyone in their right mind would pay for
modular shit unless they are trying to impress people by how
much cash they have to drop on it

did you know that tape splices do not sound like the same
thing done in software?
yeah fair enough, you could also extend the analogy to film
if u wanted (anyone watch Doc Martin?) but an oscillator is
(usually) an oscillator and and env is (definitely) an env,
and you can fit a lot more of those into a laptop than a
modular rig.... it's a waste of space and electricity, but
none of the guardian readers seem to be too much interested
in that.

these nerds plugging shit into other shit

or somethings plugging shit into the same shit?!?

actually it sounds pretty good, more rich and resonant than
software. even though I only use software myself, I disagree
with Mr. Mcqueens.

i shook richard devine's hand after a show and told him that
his snares specifically sounded sick in that set

he said, and I'll never forget this:

"thanks. they're modular."

there are things you can't do with a computer that you can
with hardware and vice versa. i'm not talking about the rack
in the video. do what a serge system can do with your
computer i dare you "i don't really cause you can't"

everyone knows you just need a laptop to make decent
electronic music

delia derbyshire used tape but she also used valve
oscillators and filters, valves will probably make a
comeback soon, metasonix and various other companies are
making valve synths...

if you want to remake drukqs or the tuss then a laptop will
do, if you want to make breakcore a laptop will do.

but i dont want my music to sound complicated like the tuss
or drukqs. and if i want to use hardware then i will, and if
i want to make shit fart noises i will. for now. :-D

i don't disagree with steve, but i just like to watch these
kinds of videos

i don't have modular synths. i have some stuff, for fun and
admittedly decoration (some behringer stuff and
this thing)

people i respect say that the synths are mostly just for
workflow purposes, not, or hardly, the sound

there's also synths like this, digitally
recreating analogue stuff. maybe steve can appreciate this
