i'm having trouble finding not breathing dave's
crudely-drawn schematics of this overload over random porn
jpegs so i haven't posted them.

it's actually like an AI-generated thing, i shit you not.
that you're starting with a vague memory of "atari punk
console" which is like a 556 chip modulating its other half
and it's like this schematic dave sent me over, i forget,
either it was an actual photo of some chick on or stomach or
anime porn, that there's some vague memory of how cool dave
was when he was on AOL instant mess, and now it's a pedal.
but it clearly sounds loads better than just a 556 chip no
arguments

i feel like i'll be one of the last standing simply because
i'm good enough to remember stuff that used to be on the
internet and actually notice it's gone missing.

that where an AI would actually be useful is "sort through
this all and find the thing i want because i could get lost
in this for ages"

and this thot is about where an alarm trips and says: i have
this saved somewhere and i just need the proper keyweirds

i actually hardly know how this thing works exactly.

have saved.

LAZY_TITLE ~ time on the filestamp is wrong; this is
like eight years older perhaps at least

i remember he actually sent along feedback from the bassist,
"playing disco slide bass like that fucking hurts" etc etc
and you can hear this in the playing. but ultimately it's
just a solid track that no one fucking has and it's good to
drop into a mix sometimes

i had trouble finding it because dave misspelled pepperoni.
par for the course

that i was like 16 and i'd decided to start circuit bending
stuff and i found his site at 3am and he had an AIM screen
name and through our shared love of being up at insane
fucking hours i kind of became like an annoying younger
brother and i haven't spoken with him in ages, but if you
see him, please tell him thanks, i didn't even get how good
i had it it back then

and the synth book is one of a million incredible things he
did for me. i could say more about what went into that
particular track, but it would be tldr

it is quite good

it's a delicious combination of circuit bending and cheesy
80s drums (it's just cheesy in context, on the Miami Vice
theme they're bad ass)

if there's a version with less distortion over the top i
might prefer it. or maybe it indeed has to be the way
it is now

oh i have dozens, perhaps hundreds. of random bits. i have a
crappy ancient AVI of dave drunk at an airport. at the time
he sent it to me i'd never even been drunk myself

that my brain came back with: the bassist was drew, i'm
pretty sure, and he looked kind of like a blond 70's
pornstar with a moustache; completely fits the bassline,
right? then i vaguely remember it was more than just him and
a bassist so maybe it was karl on drums but dave is always
just a rat's nest of wires with lots of MOTM and some drum
machines and quietly some staples like an MPC1000. and i'm
not sure who's yelling "yeahhh" but that does seem like him

here, actually

stand by ur man

that he was quite chuffed with himself after writing this
and he sent it to me, and, like, stand by your man? did you
write that? i'd never heard it before

and he's all UGGGhghdfgj

same as when he linked me his cover of telstar from the same
album

but there we're into actually released things instead of the
lost of laughs.

LAZY_TITLE ~ that it's 2003 or 2004 and dave is sending
me unreleased tracks from itchy tingles and i'm like "what's
telstar?"

thanks dave. i was tough, i know

anyways, where were we? someone has taken a vague memory of
dave wright, aka "not breathing" and fed it into an AI and
now you've bought it as a guitar pedal. and while this may
sound like it's leading up to something negative, i really
just want to know if it actually delivers

no. he is a non-dna, over the internet but oddly deep
surrogate older brother, and so he's part of how i do things
in many ways. but the idea that anything i was not breathing
is kind of... well, incredibly lol. try around, someone will
know him

and true strength. was, like. i definitely loved his cover
of stand by your man, but i had no idea it was a cover. and
he rightfully screamed at me. and then he explained it. then
i had no idea telstar was a cover -- and he rightfully
screamed at me. and then he told me about the track telstar.
and then joe meek. and then years later, shit, i still
haven't built this

but no, this is not me, it's more like 10-20% of me

LAZY_TITLE ~ i've still never even been to arizona

i can put the discrepancy into a crucible and make it
downright awkward: the idea that i would misspell the word
pepperoni -- in a file name -- like, no way in hell
am i responsible for this. dave's not perfect

oh, momentum, and i've dredged up this: he's also the one
who introduced me to Raymond Scott. and i'm very seriously
asking him questions like "Did Raymond Scott do drugs?" over
aim and his answers, some of them still better than i could
manage. in that case, he said: "yes, absolutely. 50's drugs
pills hash heroin" and honestly i would still lean on that,
like... i think he's right. and he still knows more than i
do
