He Steve, funny you should say that I'm doing the research
part of future articles tonight, found some earlier 90s
reviews of stuff like Bradley strider and analogue
bubblebath 3 and 4. great stuff! Next farticle is on the
unreleased 2002 modular stuff

@Steve just found this last night:
Bassic Groove March 1993
"Last month the CD was praised by colleague René. Here it
is my task to give some explanation on the origin of this EP
and CD. Richard D. James was working in a tunnel two years
ago, which was to lead to an island too steep to be reached
in any other way. During the days he was working there, he
had the bright idea to record sounds from the "toolkit" he
had at his disposal. His sounds therefore vary from bicycle
pumps to iron buckets and from pneumatic hammers to
crackling and squeaking railway cars. The titles also refer
to this. This is how this music originated, but it has been
updated again (partly thanks to the orange juice that was
spilled on the old master tapes). What you can expect from
the music seems clear to me: hard and ruthless tones from a
man who is way ahead of his time (Frank)"

I can't remember where else i saw the OJ anecdote before, i
think it must have been the SOSW tapes that got juice on it.
SAW was the cat? I think Quoth was maybe redone and maybe
another track? Quino phec?

offline Hyperflake from Wirral (United Kingdom) on 2022-09-17 22:42 [#02620997]

"The LP was entirely written in the deep south west of
Cornwall between 1986 and 1989 apart from “Quoth” and
“If It Really Is Me” which have recently been updated
due to a spillage of orange juice on the master tapes.
Richard, the bloke who at the age of 13 (1985) had created
his first acid track. two years before the ‘acid/techno’
scene ever existed, uses only home made keyboards and
customised synths to produce the sounds and textures in his
music."

It was "if it is really me"

I snorted heroin at one very low time in my life but
that’s been the past for ten years now. Don’t care for
hard drugs at all bar psilocybin. I was being literal!

psilocybin ftw, awesome molecule. it's the codeine for me,
legit prescription but it basically runs my poo schedule, no
likey
